:eek:passed today some help from steve and dan on saturday welding grinding cleaning up light lenses and changeing handrake cables changeing bulbs etc but it finally is legal once taxed in morning

Just got to sort my heater issues and get my stereo working thanks guys for info on here she still bit rough but got something working to try and improve on lol

advisories now small passenger side window wiper and coroded front brake pipe and faded front indicator but for now will do

Well happy (y)

Wiper is trivial, and the indicator is just a bulb (since that's where the colour comes from).

Brake pipe corrosion - unless it's catastrophic - is MOT language for "I want to complain about this car, I'm not sure why, so lets go with pitting". Jack up the car, remove the wheel, and apply Castrol CL grease to every bit of brake line you can see. Repeat at every corner. But! Be honest with yourself about the condition of them.

I don't know your circumstances and I know you're a long way away, but if you need help you're very welcome here.

Nice going on the pass, but as mako already mentioned re the brake pipe, be honest with yourself and if there's any doubt, get them changed. The piping is dirt cheap stuff and if you can get some friendly mech, it should be peanuts out of your pockets. (y)

Will have a look a t brake lines in next couple weeks and in all honesty i think they probably need changeing under this car is rusting lol subframe the lot will get around to most of this in time thanks mako on offer might take u up on that one day soon lol it only 150 + miles up to ur end of the woods and as the cougar hasnt done that mileage in the two years ive owned it yet lol im a bit scared she may not quite make the journey so will start doing short local runs until i can build confidence of reliability cos i aint got braleline tool nipple kit and i aint any good at electrics so this heater bothering me most now

but im off butlins this weekend and moveing to mountain ash in a fortnight lol so time is short a min

just glad the car is legal i can move it and not end up scrapping prob is my mates yard is getting a stretch away too now 40 miles so not like i pop in there borrow some tools every 5 mins and think i used up few of my favours owed recently lol

But dont care was worth it just to say it legal now lol even is still needing a lot of love

Just remember i almost scrapped this car myself other week lol at least saved 1 from the scrap yard if only for a couple of years

Slow n steady lmfao

You. You've at least done enough to rescue her, so a few trips here and there shouldn't be a thing.

Sounds like you've already done the hard work - it's the need for welding that usually kills them - so I will be happy to fix anything else.

Don't be afraid to ask. Maybe tack on to another MFSM? I'll be calling one in May, so...

I may lol excuse the punn tag along to that msfm (y) but right now got to get my poor better half who suffers me to minehead this weekend lol ive had strict instructions no deviation from them plans lol

Hi tatt, read some of your posts, well done on getting her legal. Does your MOT guy know the wipers are supposed to be different sizes ? The passenger side being the smaller one.
Moving to Mountain Ash, from Porthcawl ! are you on any medication to cope with the altitude sickness when you get up there ?
I'm west of you presently travelling to Cardiff daily in my Cougar passing Porthcawl twice a day, tip toeing to keep the fuel consumption sensible !

Mabo i didnt know he prob right done so much fiddling about windscreen wipers werent really top the agenda i from mountain ash originally born and bred lol love porthcawl spent nearly ten years there

My friend has a security company and offered me more work than i can handle with less comuting so i know what you mean by fuel lmao = more money and the rent is literally half the price this move saves me nearly £500 pounds a month in fuel council tax and rent so it just comes down to economics

Also i am one of 9 children (the oldest) theres a lot of family support and my children love it being around that area theres like uncles and aunties for them in every street not to mention cousins lol

yes defo got altitude ears pop when you drive to visit my mother in cefn pennar mind the better half is from tredegar lol thats a little higher up it snows a foot deep in june up there

I regularily work cardiff area for rail and sites etc currently working welsh water site st mellons nice mon to fri day job hence how had time to repair the cougar lately although i dont tiptoe i got bit heavy foot and work to many hours always hurrying to get home lol i definately keep an eye out for you thanks

I prob forget and ask again lol but thanks will check em out with tape lol
The thing more on my mind is hvac it hasnt even got display but glows a lovely shade of green at night got to be a fuse or relay next week get my head back in that footwell ffs replace every fuse
Pull out the stereo and ask you ki d fellows how to find that code and start useing this vehicle c wat else shakes loose lol

I had never heard of that over here, and I even stuck one of our radios in a honda civic..... long story lol

On Ford models from around the middle of the 2000's they tied the radio code to the vehicle's ECU which made it even more difficult to swap from one vehicle to another.
