From Farmers shed to urban cruiser

So what does one actually do with this clay? Is a case of just rubbing the paintwork with it, kind of like using an eraser to 'rub' the dirt out? I one piece does the whole car, and it picks tar and stuff off the paint, are you not dragging the muck all over the car and risking making more scratches? I'm confuzzled. (Not hard to do!)

You make a pancake shape out of the clay about 4 inch diametre, spray a panel with the detailing wax (included in Meguires) then rub with the clay and it doesn't drag or scratch the paintwork and wipe it off with the micro fibre cloth (also included).

The clay lasts for ages and can be reused over and over again, just DON'T drop it on the floor else you can't use it again :nono: :nono:

The ONLY way you'll ever appreciate what claybar does, is to use it. Like its been said, you think your cars paintwork is clean and smoothe?
The way i use it is to roll the clay into a ball, then flatten it into the palm of my hand, squirt the detailer onto the paintwork/panel, and just rub away, not heavy handed, just let the clay slide over the detailer. You can actually feel the paint getting smoooooothe.
Try it, you WILL be amazed (y)

OK, that's me convinced. As soon as Bob Ainsworth puts my next pay in the bank, I'll be having me some of that. Might even do Joanne's Fiesta too if she's nice to me!

(y) Remember to give the car an extremely thorough wash before you use the clay, and as Paul said, keep a good hold of the clay, if you let it dry, it'll grip and can fly out of your hand very easily. If it goes onto the floor, bin it.

Noted. Pics will be posted once the cleaning has been... attempted! Perhaps a numpty question, but do I wax the car as normal once I've clayed it? In fact, thinking about it, I'm sure I've seen posts on here saying you have to wash the car, clay it then wash it AGAIN, is that right?

Sounds like a job for Wednesday 30th. I'm on duty all night so have to stay at work but it means I can pull the car into a nice warm, dry, well lit building to clay and wax to my heart's content. (y)

So I only need to wash the once then and not wash the car again after clay but before wax?

Just make sure you play with the clay in your hand till it's soft. If it's hard and rigid it won't absorb the rubbish and will just drag it over your paint. Like above just hold it with a couple of fingers and lightly push it over a small area. After 3 or 4 passes it will just start to glide over the paint. Wipe off the lube and move on. Best to wash the again after. Only need to clay a few times a year
