Funeral convoy details

Yes people don't leave anything to chance, a few of us are local and don't have to take our time but we still want to arrive in one piece.
Who wants to contact the police then? Warwickshire constabluary

For M1 southbound traffic, i suggest a meet time of 1.00pm at Trowell services. This should allow time for late arrivals, time to get to the shires meet point before heading across town to Chris and Tims in preperation for the cortege.

You'll never get from Trowell to Leamington in half an hour Al. I wouldn't be meeting at Trowell for half 1, not if we are to be outside Tim's for half past 2, give or take a few mins.

Realised my mistake and corrected it Kully. (y)

For people travelling from the North West, can I suggest meeting at Sandbach Services at 12:30 and leaving around 12:45? My Satnav says M6, M5, M42, M40, A452 then a couple of local roads and we're at the meet point (y)

There's always the option of M6 Toll too in the event of gridlock through Brum
(Unless anyone has a better suggested meet point/time)

Even tho I live in Sandbach, I'll be going straight from work in Crewe at 12:00, so meet up at Keele services would be better for me? It's the next one down between J16 and J15 about 10 minutes further on. However, journey time from Keele on my satnav is still 1hr 30mins, so we need to be leaving there 12:30 at the latest to get to the meet-up point at 2pm... Thoughts?

As I'm coming up the M40, I guess I'll be in a convoy of 1, I'll see you all at Maccy D's/ Currys.

Steve, I'll be taking the same route as you. Judging by the speed you came past me on the way home from Coventry last month though, I doubt you'll be wanting to pootle along with me!

I've posted up the the "Funeral Arrangements" thread details which should cover everything from the meet-up point at Shires Retail Park (Now renamed Leamington Spa Retail Park to confuse the unwary) onwards.

It's not really going to be a day for racing around Rich, if you let me know what time you'll be passing the M4, or if you want to meet at Chievley services, we can drive up in mini-convoy.

Will do mate. When I say pootle though, I really do pootle! I tend to stick to around 60 on motorways for better miles to the pound.

After thinking about this I don't want to chance anything knowing what the M6 can be like. Satnav says about 2h 20m journey time from where we are so we'll be leaving home around 11am which will give is plenty of time to get to the meetup point. If we spot anyone heading south on the M6 we'll give you a flash (y)

Fair enough, i know exactly what you mean! I'm quite happy to make my own way down to Leamington too and meet everyone there too, will try to leave work at 12:00 which should get me there about 1:45 ish.

I would go for 12.00 at trowell. I don't want to miss this and one accident could scupper that. I have sat nav as well. And a call to the coppers is a very good idea

Sorry I've been a bit quiet on this so far chaps - lots going on. Rob raises a very good point - I would hate to get stuck in an accident or other unforseen delay - much rather get down there with an hour to spare and have a coffee or whatever at the other end when we know we've got there. It's about 130 miles/2hours according to RAC route planner. It's not like it's going to be a crack of dawn start so I'l be looking (subject to Mark's view's) at getting to Mark's for about 10.30 and going via the M6 toll road (as every time I don't I regret it!!) - probably passing Sandbach about 11.15 and Keele about 11.30 if anyone wants to hook up?

The SW contingent are thinking along the same lines; set off a bit earlier and arrive in the vicinity of Leamington in plenty of time. We're aiming to leave my place by 10.30 and hopefully make time for a pub lunch somewhere within 10 miles, or so, of the meeting point.

Sounds good to me Andy - if you do find somewhere - text me the post code and we'll try and hook up. As we are coming from opposite directions it would probably be a case of the nearer the better (y)

There's a pub called The Tiller Pin on the canal side opposite Sainsburys roundabout behind Maccy D's that serves good food. Parking could be an issue there though.

I think i should update this again. All those meeting at Trowell service M1 Southbound, should arrive in time to leave no later than 1.00pm.
