All this talk of late about previously owned car finaly got me to scan some old photo's into my computer of my very own. The Cougar is only my 4th car as you will see.

Escort Mk3 1.3Litre CVH "L" 5 door
This the car that started me off in the early days of motoring, way back in 1992. Finished in "Sunburst Red" with Tan interior :wink: and fitted with XR3 14" "Cloverleaf" alloys (wrong size tyres @ 195/60 R14)

2x Ring "Rally Giant" Spots & Fog lights, Lightguard film, windscreen wiper boots, and some interior modifications too :arrow:

Didn't take some "pond-scum" long to relieve me of most of my Interior mods either :evil:
Obviously being an old car even in 1992 the rust and rot had crept in by 1993/94 time, so I did a bit of restoration work (no-one said it was any good though :roll: :oops: )

Orion Mk2 1.6i Ghia
Now this was a bit more upmarket (well it was at the time) brought this in 1995/96. finished in rosso red and sporting Mk4 Escort Xr3i alloys.
The day I got it I had a total closure alarm fitted (even wound the windows up) and then had the windows tinted (this was back in the day when it was ok to have this done) 8)

Underfloor enclosure for the DSP control box, Three Pioneer Amplifiers (was 4 at one point) 4 speakers, Centre channel speaker, 2x 8" subs, 1x 10" Sub (fitted after the pic) CD-Multichanger, TV, VC-Player!
When a bit mad with the bodywork after then, obsessed with the DTM/Touring Car scene. As you can tell suptlty wasn't the aim of the game :oops:

Was a member of the Orion Register at this point to hence all the car shows. Took my car on track a few times too in different guises.

Then I decided on a full respray so got a local guy who had featured his car in MAX-POWER to respray it totally body-colour.

Then it was back to the show scene and on track at Silverstone.

The car was modded with: Full Peco Exhaust & DTM Back-box, Pipercross Airfilter element, Split-fire Plugs, Lowered Suspension, Yokohama A510 Tyres (very sticky)
Part exchanged it in 1999 (It had been broken into one too many times) at the local FORD garage for my next car.
Escort MK v (B) 1.6L (Zetec) "LX" 5door.
Think I must have had my sensible head on when I got this car, it had NO Alloys and was bog standard :? finished in Caymen Blue Metalic (nice colour) and fitted with the Standard LX extras of electric windows (front), and a rear spolier.....ooooh :wink:

Still didn't take me long to get modifing the old work horse. Had a cracking ICE instal fitted (still got some of the kit in my Cougar), Jetex Full system (from the cat-back), K&N Induction kit and debadged the grill.

Took It on track a few times too, just because i like to kill my clutch, brakes, suspension, fuel bill etc.

Was a member of the MK V Register & FLORD (Ford Lovers Owners Rodders & Drivers) while I owned this car.
Sold it in 2004 a couple of months after buying the Cougar (actualy had them both on seperate fully comp insurance policies)

There you go a full life history :LOL: gona keep the cougar till it falls apart (going on the roads around here that wont be long) as my moto is dont replace it if it aint broke :D :D
 
ginja - your a man after me own heart! :LOL: loving the selection of escorts youve had - esp the mk3 (not that im bias or anything :roll: :LOL: ) those ring lamp are pure retro...dont suppose you still have the covers?? ive got new ones but they arent as cool as the ones you had! the orion looked a good one - mine was more rotten than i thought and i managed to total it on the back roads - went flying over a hump and when i landed the struts came right thru :oops:

Na sold them with the car.
Was looking at an orion on Ebay this week only ?ú190 basic 1.4 L i think, but would prefer an injection ghia again, used to regulary have mine up to 120mph....on a private road honest :wink: and that deep red bodywork was just lush, allways looked clean even when it was dirty, bit like my silver cat.
 
pity you sold them with the car...ahh well :(

my mate was selling an orion 1.4 L ghia a few weeks ago with a brand new mot alloys etc for 495 buy it now and it didnt sell so i think hes breaking it now. took a lot for me not to get it as it was well solid, but i wanted a more "adult" car for daily driving and had no space for extra toys :(

the paint job on yours looked top - i bet it got some nice comments at the shows :D
 
yeah always had comments on how shiney it was, used that turtle wax colour magic on it :)
didn't want to sell it, think its gone to the great big scrap heap in the sky now, the registration number is no longer registered. :(

Hahaha!!! god that brings back memories!! When i was in lower sixth form my mate Tom, the first one of us to have passed his test bought a Ford fiesta 1.3 supersport, it had the gearbox from a 1.0 fitted, and with an X pack bodykit and the same 6x4" peco powermaster!!! It felt like the fastest thing in the world... but then again at that age the only journeys i'd ever had in a car involved my mum or dad driving and the rev counter needle never venturing past 3000rpm!!! :LOL: :LOL: :LOL:
 
Great history and comments for each car. Id do the same thing but ive only had one previous car and il bang on about it for page after page like i do when i talk to any one about cars lol. Never end up talking about the cat but all the problems and monds i did to the Megane happy days :D Oh and i like the young ginga picture you definatley look like John Lydon :eek: if i didnt know better id say it was him lol

Im 22 now insurance went from ?ú1600 ish if i rember rite to just over ?ú800 still not happy tho didnt crash once to make use of that ?ú1600 i paid. Good Old sex pistols ay. I have to say in that pic i had you down as 17 lol ahh well at least people didnt tell you you looked 30 when youw were 21 :oops:
 
ive got a full set of mudflaps to go on my cat :D i think they look good as for those orange repeaters dont suppose that halfords had a ripspeed to sell clear ones back in those days lol

ME mate sorry to put you to shame :nono:again. Lovein the massive spot lamps. And just loved the way the escort seemed abandoned in the hedge in one of the pictures. And so from the Escort LX you progressed to the Cougar.;)
