Hello All. Im New

Moosing? Is the noise when it starts up?
Moosing won't be changing when on or off full lock though? I though most power steering systems sqealed a bit when you really applied FULL lock. Take the steering wheel just 10 degrees back from full lock and it normally stops. That's my experience.
Cheers.

Welcome to the club Gareth, whereabouts are you in Lincoln?
If it will help we could meet up some time and I will give it the once over for you

At this rate we can have a Lincoln meet soon!

Currently I'm in Ermine East(council estate top of town nr A15/A46 Roundabout). I actually live in Hemingby nr horncastle, but until i know its safe, Id rather not be stuck in the middle of nowhere lol

Oh and can you delete the other thread as its pointless now lol

Just thought I'd keep people updated, on what I'm doing to my cat

Fixed Cigar Lighter, Bad wire & Blown fuse - Now Sorted.
Stereo was faulty, have temp fitted a Single din unit until I get a replacement.
Boot cover String repaired and a Bolt Found/Fitted.
After running heater on full for 10mins, engine seems to be cooling better, so I'm thinking a coolant flush might be in order.
Front Disks actually look like they are corroding, so really must get these alloys off.

Found a set of 4 Fox 18" Alloys on ebay for £80 4x108 Bolt Fittings, I assume these would fit? (205/50/16)

As I understand it, there were only 10 Alloy wheel keys made for the Alloys, so maybe someone else's would fit?
Have been quoted £50 to have them force-ably removed.
Power steering hoses actually look a bit rough, but Is not currently losing fluid. Also found an after market Cooling Pipe for £50+P&P
No obvious leaks from Radiator, Hoses. But I think the Water pump sounds a bit rough.
Heat shield near front exhaust pipe is rattling/loose

Only way to repair scratches is a respray :(

Hello and welcome aboard Gareth. Good to see you are from Lincoln - that's where I was born and grew up in Lincoln and Skellingthorpe. Get some pic's posted up soon matey of your coug despite her current state.

Re: Locking wheel nuts - if you can meet up with Rik Edwards I'm pretty sure he will get them off for you. There are removal tools you can buy otherwise - have a look at this: http://www.dynomec.co.uk/

The Fox Alloys you have bought should fit with no issues but you would need 215/40/18 tyres or 225/40/18. 205/50/16's are the wrong tyres anyway, the standard fit on the 16's are 215/50/16 they shouldn't be any narrower than 215's really.

Thanks for that matey xD I haven't bought them yet, as i need to know if I'm driving a death trap first lol.

I really hope now, because after looking at some of your cars on here, I am really up for making her look better. You know with kits and such.
But I really do appreciate all the help so far. I was a member of the Rover/MG forums before, but they were nowhere near as friendly as you guys have been.
I know I would be classed as a 'needy' user, I wish that wasn't the case, I wish I was still working and had oodles of cash to invest in the car, especially as I have already fallen for it, but, like I said, Electronics & Computer hardware/software has been my thing for the last few decades, So I am clueless, I dont even know what to search for in the forums, because I dont know what I am looking at. Its a bit like trying to self diagnose yourself medically. Unless your a doctor, chances are you'll diagnose yourself as terminally ill lol.

All I really want in the beginning is to have it safe enough for the kids at the weekends... Then Its on to getting her through the MOT in November, then its Restoring her before next summer! and finally making her look good so I can go show her off to you guys!! lol

Rik....if Gareth needs a few minor odds and sods drop me a line...I will see what I can do on that front

Gareth`s car is not as bad as he fears

Bodywork will need some TLC lol

ABS kicking in at low speed, no light on though, advised him to pull the abs fuse and test it again

Tyres are sorted

Locking wheel nuts don`t appear to be, think they are just odd nuts

Only problem I could feel driving it was a major hesitation (flatness) coming off a roundabout. Car pulls nicely and engine sounds sweet as - any ideas??

Odd noise was air filter top cover unclipped

I think a good service will work wonders

Hi Gareth and welcome to the preverbal MADHOUSE :devilish::devilish::devilish::LOL::LOL: enjoy it
Great club with plenty of friendly banter
as Rik suggested good sevice including plugs, might be worth checking the link rod on LIM as the plastic clips have a habit of breaking

I know i said thanks to Rik, but I;ll say it publicly - Thanks very much for taking the time to come see me. Was Nice to meet you and I hope I get the chance to meet more of the group!

Will do the tyres and test the ABS tomorrow, am really feeling the love in here :) lol

Will also subscribe this week, not because the info will help me a huge amount, but because Its nice to try and give something back I think.

Unfortunately, as I said I'm clueless with cars... So that was an entirely foriegn language to me - Sry :( In what sense would that affect me, and whats a LIM? Lower inlet manifold? Just a guess not that i even know what a manifold is :(

correct, there a little rod that connected both sides of the V together when it's due to open it increase the air/fuel mix to give a boost at about 3500 to 4000 revs if one dosen't open it still allow the extra petrol in without the added air and could give a flat effect/feel (in simple terms, as there's a bit more involved and requires a longer explanation )
