Hello All. Im New

Secondaries are perfect Tony, poor running is at lower revs when accelerating away from roundabout, after second or two all was fine and car took off

Have a feeling it is a combination of being stood for a while and badly needing a service

fair enough, it was just an idle thought, but if checked then at least it eliminates a cause

Sounds to me like it needs plugs and leads changed, air filter and the MAF cleaned as a base start..(y)

They look Identical....

and postage is like $40 not 85 as listed, and duty is 0 and vat is 20% so that's £145 for a pair delivered rather than £154 for just 1....

I am not trying to actually get one from the states, its just I have quite a few friends over there who would post them one at a time 'as gifts' and thus might get away without VAT and can post them much cheaper than a store/parts supplier can do it.

I have ordered quite a bit from Ebay USA and done it that way, sometimes its much cheaper, and sometimes its the same.
Like I said, I dont personally need them right now, but if I did and could find the right ones in the states, my friend comes over and my father goes quite often, so could probably have them brought over and pay the VAT.

Just an Idea :(

Yeah, Rik did say that, well if I or anyone needs a set, If we can make sure that a)they are the correct set and b)actually save some money, I'll give it a go and get a set :)

The other thing I saw last night was this:-

Cougar power steering cooling pipe:-

@ £55

These stainless ones are made by Dogsbody on here... and are very good quality, and value for money as Ford want nearly £300 for a standard one.. (y)

I think I like the group more each day lol.
Well I suppose after 12years there would be nothing new I could help with/find :giggle:

I was hoping to find something I might be able to contribute back to the group.

Well, I've got a local mechanic who wants his PC Fixed, so I feel a labour charge swap coming on, trouble is whether I trust him with my ABS.....

One thing I think I do need scunny, is a service pack, you know sparks, filters etc.

Best thing for cleaning injectors etc? Just redex??

I am getting about £250 this week or next, any chance I'm gunna get the ABS fixed for that?

ABS shouldn't cost anything close to that.

I would recommend pay Mart (Dogsbody) a visit ^^^^^^.

His abilities on the mechanical front are excellent and his rate similarly so.

Decent bloke - who knows cougars inside out.

I don't have a service pack - i just have a shed full of cougar (used) spare parts

Like I posted earlier, I am going to subscribe as soon as my money comes through, although technical help wont do alot for me as I know nothing about cars, and I cannot physically do most of the work as I have partial cerebral palsy.... I am lucky that I can drive a manual gearbox :)

The Whine I posted about, only happens when I steer. Even just a little bit, Its quieter if Im not driving but still there, so I am taking a stab in the dark at a Power steering issue.
Secondly, and this will make you laugh, it has no alloy wheel locking nuts, I just needed a bigger wheel brace
So wheels can now come off no problem.

Have taken some piccies which Ill post tomoz!

I'd guess at fluid level/quality but since you've probably thought of that already, could it be the belt just starting to squeak? Worst-case scenario, maybe the pump bearings are on the way out?

Glad you discovered that before you really needed to. Some clown fitted locking nuts on my car with a 19MM head, which means I have to carry a socket of that size with me. Again, glad I discovered it before it was a problem...

Excellent - look forward to them. (y)

Top up the power steering fluid, it's on the drivers side at the back you will see it, the small bottle.. that will or should stop the whine, it's whining because you have lost the fluid from the leak and the pumps don't like it very much...
