Hello, First timer...

Depending on cost of the donor car this could come in at under £2,000! and all ford oe parts plus a bit of bling!

Neither is turboing the cougar unless you go down the spacer route which will inevitably go wrong!. And cost you an engine!

Not really,
Set of forged pistons, circa £550, megasquirt say £300 + whatever to Map it, £140 for Injectors.
Then about £350 for ods'n'sods. I already have the T28 Turbo brand spanking new never been used. As for the manifold im just keeping my eyes peel'd for another Focus RS one to pop up on ebay, Like a tool i forgot to put in a bid the other night :\. I've got 3 boxes full of 2.5" Ally Pipe and Silicone Joints, Plus a pretty decent FMIC i should be able to get the first stages well under way for under a grand.

As for the 4x4 Conversion... If the donor mondeo's were even in existance anymore then it may have been a possibility, But i would never pay £1,000 + for a donor car, Not in a million years! lol.

I paid £265 for the fourby mondeo with multipoint gas conversion which i sold on for £300

Something like this you mean on the manifold front

This is off the 200sx been slightly modified and cost half the price of the focus ones.

Hello and welcome aboard Gav. I've had a Rover in the past and loved it, great fun, although mine was the 5 door hatch rather than the Tomcat. Still love my Coug more though lol

Well under a month since buying the cougar and i have some hates already! :(

1) It drinks twice the fuel my rover TURBO drank, And that got a good "enthusiasic drive" at least once a week.
2) The brakes are shockingly **** (Most stock cars are).
3) My drivers seat is just pants, lol its been damaged along the base somehow, so my back hurts like hell after a 5min drive, Any advice on where i can find a decent cloth interior cheap?

This car definatly needs the turbo power, At least then i wont feel so bad about only getting 20mpg!

Also, how well does this car respond to a decat? I think mines blocked and i really cant be bothered replacing it yet so may make up a decat pipe.

Yup - you've highlighted a few of the stock problems there. The brakes were designed for a lesser car and are notoriously bad - plenty of upgrade options there.

The drivers seat is a weekness as well.

As for the decat - no problems there - the cat has 3 - 2 precats and a main cat - remove either and she will be fine and a little more responsive (y)

pauldf1971 might be able to help you out with the cloth interior.

Brakes dont bother me too much, Im considering a 5 Stud conversion so i can run ST220 18" Alloys, Alas an obvious big brake like ST-220 will be coming then too, I will make do with what ive got or simply add some drilled & groved disks as they help the cougar no end of times (My dads old one had them).

As for the cat, Give it a week and il have it emptied & welded up :) lol.
