Hello all,

Probably not a whole lot of foreign Ford Cougar owners active on this forum, but I've been browsing a bit and this seems like a fantastic community of Cougar enthusiasts. I am from the Netherlands and driving my Cougar for a bit over a year now. It is an awesome drive and quite a rare sight over here.

My model is a manual shifted '00 2.5l V6 in Melina Blue. Over the year I did some minor modifications to it and some more challenging modifications are in the pipeline, but all OEM. I am a bit new to the whole car maintenance/mechanics, so I hope to find some useful advice here as well :)

So far I replaced the original interior with leather seats and door panels and just kept the car in good shape. Some of the projects I am planning to do in the near future:

- Fit a new car stereo
- Install cruise control (I got a complete set from a scrap car and all the wiring is already there. It just seems that there are differences between a manual and automatic transmission - have to look into that)
- Try to find a (subtle) OEM rear spoiler
- Fit the Mercury Cougar front grille

Below some pictures.

Anyway, quite some text. Summarizing, I am happy to be here as there is not something as a Cougar community in the Netherlands. I've seen some awesome cars here already!

Hi Ziggy and a warm welcome to ukcougar.org. It is always a pleasure to welcome members from as far afield as possible. Over the years we have had a couple from Holland, France, Lithuania as well as the USA.
I like the side panels on your car that stop you from getting car park dings when people open their door on to your car. If you ever find a set on a scrapper, I would be really interested in them.

Thank you all for the warm welcome!

@Quicksilver, cool, that Dutch Cougar project does look really impressive! Maybe I will try and locate those people and have a chat with them. Thanks also for the link to the offered spoiler. Unfortunately, it's a bit too large to my liking, I am looking for something more subtle, like this:

Will keep my eyes open :)

@D1ckl, thanks! The side panels are actually OEM parts, they were shown in the dealer-fit accessories brochure of 1999, but so far I haven't seen them on any other Cougar.

Yeah, that's the one I'm after! Love how it looks on the car, especially that little 'leg' in the middle. Do you by chance have any pictures on how it looks from the side?

Anyway, if you by accident stumble on one like that, give me a heads up :)

I have one of the rear quarter parts of this bumper strip which i'm sure i copied in CF vinyl (the shiney sort) :) so if you need a similar effect minus the protection? :)
