This one looks nice and straight, has the old 7 light head console and the larger of the v6 engines, if you do get it your first job is to get rid of the sponges in the cills and where the rear abs sensors enter the car then waxoyl the living daylights out of it
Hi there, I have just joined the club although I bought mine a year ago. Blimey, there’s foam in the sills! the KA had similar around behind the filler cap and with disastrous result. Does the Cougar rot from inside the sills out?

Hello and welcome, yes the foam soaks the water up and rots the sills out, some have foam in the sill where the seat belt mounts and there's also some in the front wings behind the plastic mud cover, get em all out and douse profusely with waxoil or similar 👍

Hi all, I have had my Cougar for a year now but have just joined the club, been meaning to do it for ages, I was hoping to get down to the NEC last November and catch up there but was busy at work. I have just realised I have only a few photos of it and most of them were taken whilst it was having a repai; had it a week and someone scrap the rear valance 😬. My wife and I are off up to Scotland I’m it on Monday for our 40th wedding anniversar, Judy been serviced and MOTd and I have now put the original wheels bac on it with new tyre. The dealer I bought it from last year put a 12 month ticket on it but had to put a different set of wheels on it because the original wheels still had the original tyres on it from new and were perishEd, it had 22.5k on it when I bought it and Ive put 4K on it since. wh we’re in Scotland I’ll take some photos and post the, hopefully the weather is nice. 🤞👍

The foam was originally included as a result of NVH (noise, vibration and harshness) tests during vehicle development. It's still used in more modern vehicles but is now shrink wrapped in plastic so it doesn't act as a sponge and retain moisture.
You need to remove the rear side panels to get at the ones in the outer voids.
There is a How-To here:

First time camping and on your anniversary up Scotland (y) . Have a really enjoyable time together and a relaxing drive. The Cougar boot is quite literally a Tardis.

The boot is huge with a back seat than can actually seat two adults, something that can not be said of other coupé, perfect for a holiday or a trip to B&Q for anything from a lawnmower to flat pack furniture 😁

So long as the adults aren’t too tall !
Mine did a run to the local refuse recycling depot recently.
”Is that a Probe ?”
” No it’s a Cougar, it replaced the Probe but Ford couldn’t sell these either. “
10 mins later.
”I can’t believe how much stuff you’ve taken out of a sports coupe “
” I’ve folded the back seats but it will seat 4 adults ”
He seemed impressed by the engine note when I left too. :)
