How NOT to paint your calipers!

You could always paint over another members leg like i did.....sorry Stewart ;)

BLUE does look good

Shame about those nasty bang-on weights:nono::D

If someone tried putting those weights on my alloys I would slap them!

Are the clip on one not for steel wheels? or they just an old redesign?

Plenty of places still use bang-on weights. Next time you're passing your friendly local Ford/Vauxhall/Toyota etc dealer take a wander around the forecourt & go rim inspecting. Toffee apple to a tea cup the majority will have bang-on weights, erm, banged on.........

P'raps they're cheaper than sticky weights, but putting them on the front is just lazyness on the part of a fitter somewhere.....probably. YMMV........

The only argument i can think of is that if you put them on the inside it's not obviouse if they have fallen off??? that or clearance to the strut spring seat???

Depends if they can get the weights close enough to the edge of the wheel to balance it correctly, i always get them to use stick ons on my standard rims and they balance up perfect

Bingo...

The machine needs to know the width of the rim, and it calculates the mass and position of the balance weights based upon them being fitted to the two planes which were measured (i.e. an imaginary disc touching the inside and outside edges of the rim - optimal positioning). Stick on weights look better but they're always on the different plane to that the machine expected, so it's sometimes difficult to get a good balance.

You can't balance the wheel with all the weights on the inside edge of the rim though, if anyone thinks they can do that... dynamic balance doesn't work like that (y)

Basic phisycs realy :LOL::LOL::idea: so whats the differance between the outside edge and inside??

:idea: Balance a 6" rule on your index finger (imagine the rule to be the width of the wheel) and put a small plastic button at 1/2" away from your finger, it'll cause the rule to over balance but not massively, now put the button at the end of the rule :eek6:

Basic, but it should give you an idea of how it works.

.....:yikes: no comment....I'm off.....:LOL::LOL::LOL:

But first, and to avoid getting told off, on the subject of balancing weights, I'll just add that mine are the stick on versions. The last time I had clip on ones was on steel wheels on a B reg Micra that cost me fifty quid!
