That look fantastic mate! Where can you get those bonnet vents at?

Thanks Chris.
It's a Visteon bonnet scoop and is purely cosmetic; it is bolted and sealed to the bonnet but the bonnet isn't cut to allow any extra airflow. They turn up on here every now and again, failing that US Ebay is probably your best bet.

Looking good Andy, I to have a set of C2 headlights to go onto my car. Is there anything I need to know before doing the swap or is it just a straight take out and replace job ?
I know some of the bulbs are different which I need to look into before doing this job.

You will need to do work to the metal work that hosts the lights....i.e c2 lights on a c1 mean a little trim is needed.

Also, to make them fit perfectly, you may need to trim a bit of bumper too

That looks spot-on Andy!
love that visteon scoop :)
I've also got my number plate positioned in the same place as you, but i've still got standard size plate so it doesn't look quite right at the mo from some angles! I know it's not to everyone's taste but I do like seeing the curvature of the front end with the plate out the way. (y)

Just had a look at the thread and it all looks simple to do. I will not be having a go at this until next year now but something for me to think about over the winter months + I need either the No limits group buy to come through or a C2 US grill to come up by then.

Peter, it is quite straightforward but I wouldn't mess around with a dremel until you need to tidy things up at the end. Be brave with a 4" angle grinder for the most part. I was fortunate in that the indicator socket mod had already been done so it was just a case of cutting and grinding until the lamp unit would fit in the correct position. Most of the obstruction is caused by the removable cover on the rear of the unit and it is possible to only remove enough to allow the lamp unit to fit without the cover. I went the whole hog and made them fit with the covers on. It's two layers of bodywork in the top of the lamp aperture that has to come out and so it's a case of cut a bit, grind a bit until the hole is big enough to allow the lamp unit to seat properly. As Si mentioned the top of the bumper can cause the units to 'catch' as you try to put them in but I found it is possible to flex that down enough to allow the lamp over the lip. The outer locating pegs that fit into the grommets in the front of the wing are easily unscrewed from the headlamp to allow you to seat the lamps properly before you have to think about having to deal with them not being a straight fit into the existing C1 holes. You could, of course, not bother with them at all as once the lamp units are located with the front, inner pegs and secured with their three screws they aren't going to move anyway. ;)

Thanks for the detailed post Andy. It just so happens I have a garage full of 110V power tools that will make this job like cutting through butter. I think I will tackle it is a 4" dewalt grinder. Looks like I will have to do the bulb mod as well but no big issue there. Are the sidelights different to the C1's ?
I did read somewhere that they are totally different and I will need to look into this so I can find a set that match my main driving lights for colour ( brighter )

Yes Peter the sidelights are different but they are common enough wedge-based bulbs fitted into the same push-fit type socket as in the C1 lamps. I got some 5 SMD wedge bulbs off ebay and find them to be bright enough for me. Find yourself some wing repeaters from a Cougar, Mondeo or Ka and use the plugs and bulb sockets from them to fit the outer running lamps in the C2 headlamps. I wired mine in with the sidelights but they could easily be wired as DRL's, they use the same wedge based bulbs.

Cheers Andy, I have already got some like this for the number plate lights. Good to know they are a more common type bulb than the C1 sidelight bulbs are.
I did not know about the extra running lights in the C2 headlights and I will have to look into this before I fit them. No harm in having extra sidelights
