YES JJ PLEASE DO. and tools, materials that are required! Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!! would love to have someone spot me while sorting my vents. hopfully somone has the tools needed to install springs too? like i said, i will pay :)

Angle grinder and a marker pen are the only tools dude, and some anti rust paint for the bare metal once you've cut them. Wish I didn't put bloody pictures up of them now lmao they'll be more common than standard bonnets on a cougar!!!.

If you want dude take a trip up Manchester and I'll do it for you.

haven't got an angle grinder, just a dremel lol. i estimated the jurny, which is 175 miles there and back :geek: its time and would rather most of fuel bill goes to your labour. thank you for the offer JJ

Wouldn't want anything for it mani!. Dremel will take an age dude I started with one a proper one with reinforced cutting wheels soon broke out the angle grinder.

Main thing is a strong grip and steady hand which is something I thankfully don't struggle for lol.

JJ

You are too kind muscled dude. will still give you something and will keep you in mind! hope you dont mind me waiting on other offers till tomorrow JJ. But thank you once again dude!

Of course not dude, I'm a fair trek so hopefully someone closer can offer help. Tbh you'll be fine with it just go steady at it if need be.

What about a trip down the M4 to Add's? I don't have anywhere to work on a car right now or I'd have you up here Mani. Lowering is straight forward enough, just a case of cracking the pinch bolts etc and having spares to hand in case. The vents like J said are easy enough. Lay down some masking tape, a couple of layers of 1" would be ample and then draw the outline down and cut away! Or drill a hole and do it with a jigsaw ;)

Thank you for the advice Kully, I will try to contact add. you make lowering sound so simple lol.

used a jigsaw on my bonnet , easy ! though mine are in a slightly different place to jj's and adds !:)

sent from the mobile thingy !!

i could never pull this off with a jigsaw dude. i would wreck my bonnet with jigsaw dents and dings.

Mani, Lay the vents on top of a bit of card or paper, draw round them, then measure 5mm inside the line, then cut the template out mate, nice and easy, JJ has already offered to send the measurements for them, just follow the pictures, I used a dremel and a diamond cutting disc in it to do most of the work, the vent on the drivers side will need a Jigsaw to get through the bonnet brace... the dremel went through the metal like a knife through butter and was a very easy clean cut.. . when you use the jigsaw, just lay some masking tape down before, and keep pressure on the jigsaw to stop it jumping when cutting and you will be fine mate.. :)
Job done, Make sure you find a way to cover the multiplug and airfilter on the passenger side from water... fit the vents and bond them in... sorted...

Right! i will be blasting some motivational rock must and will attempt this mod with my trusty dremmel!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wish me luck dudes lol!

p.s. i know someone will give me the nickname "dremmel" one day lol!

hi add. vents are not flush on bonnet. i can either widen the holes, place back down with weights for a better fit, then use tigerseal, or just screw them down and when dry, grind off the screw heads.
not sure what to do dude.

If it's just the width of the holes pushing the vents up then widen the holes with a file, make sure they sit flush, then tigerseal them down with some weight on top, it will be fine mate.. Are they colour coded already?

Great! i will do that then! (y)
yes add, they are colour coded. i will mask them off before tigersealing! :p

Just be really careful not to widen the holes too much, keep checking the vents fit ok chap, I used tigerseal on mine, and then went round the edge with the corner of a cloth to wipe the excess away...
you will find that you have to put a very fine line of the seal round the very edge of the vent for it to bond, then open the bonnet and go round the cut to seal it completely from the inside like mastic round a bath.. close the bonnet and place some weight on the vents for around 30 mins or more... that should work..
