luvin the big cat

cheers si...think im gonna go down the mintex road in a week or two mate. Luving the colour...it was second choice to black but its growing on me more each time i look at my car. Took her out for a long run today and really opened her up, it handles so sweet for such a big beast....totally chuffed wiv my buy....tis a thing of beauty!!!!

The little sounds here and there off the v6 :) i have to have window down sometimes just to listen,lo

I doubt it Eric, I've had my cat over 12 months now and struggle to reach 20mpg normally! (thats spirited driving though) :) I can achieve 38 on a decent run when I'm being sensible!

We did a thread some months ago where we talked about what we were getting, (and to my shame, I posted a photo where I cheated for the LOLs).

If it's any consolation, I get around 28.5 in mixed driving. So unless you've got Miss Daisy in the back, expect to see 26 or so.

Have you checked the state of the oil, filters and plugs, Eric? That'll make a huge difference.

On the (very sensible) drive home when I bought her it was showing 35.......

now showing 17 :-D

Just love that V6 sound!

Right, so what you're saying is that you need to drive like an MK taxi driver. 4th gear everywhere and never look right at a roundabout.

Oh - and can you please stop by the KFC at Stacey Bushes? And then the BP because I don't have any cash. Ta.

You suggesting MK's taxi drivers can't drive! Shame on you!

Up to now mines only been round the block a few times to keep things lubed up and the rust off the discs, all about to change though!

Would join you for a KFC but just had a gorgeous bbq in the sun, and it's beer o'clock!

thats sprited driving tho
hahaha...nice one loon.
The previous owner changed the oil n plugs 2000 miles ago so theyre cool...not sure bout the filters, but gonna give her a pre mot service next month. The mpg is purely down to my leaden right foot!! bare in mind that for the last three years iv been driving a fiat scudo workhorse...the non turbo brick version....i now feel i can fly!!!

Hello and welcome aboard Eric. Only just caught up on this thread. Re: Brake upgrade - well I have gone down the route of Brembo disc's and Mintex pads all around with Goodridge braided brake hoses. Now, whilst the brakes are better than standard, they are still (in my opinion) shocking and don't stop anywhere as well as my Mondy Mk3. So, when I can afford it, I will be changing to Mondeo Mk3 disc's with Mk3 calipers. I have the Coug V6, so she is a heavy little beast to try and stop. Good luck with sorting yours.

I think you may find that it's Mk3 mondy claipers and ST170 discs there Tim... :p

Aha...errr...ok....hmmmm...not good with this stuff...all I know is I need to change the calipers. Now I'm wondering if I can keep the Brembo disc's which are less than a year old and just upgrade to the Mk2 Mondy caliper???? Anyone???

No, you will need bigger discs, as the mondy calipers are set for 300mm discs chap.. (y)
