My Cougar's gonna feature in a magazine!

It's not always about sports car handling, sometimes you (I) want a car that looks and feels special. The Cougar sits in that category but so do Alfas, to my eye they're all gorgeous (I suspect that Italians actually have effortlesly stylish nosebleeds and do effortlessly stylish poos) and that Alfa V6, besides being a thing of beauty in it's own right, is simply musical.

I know what you're thinking of and I agree. But I was more like "Fiat Croma? Seriously?" That's what I should've said.

This. A well thought out, reasoned and justified argument.

:LOL::LOL:

So I don't need to say that I can really see myself in one? In an Italian racing red one? With the interior like an '80s Bang & Olufsen hifi? With a U-shaped handbrake handle, window switches in the roof and a removeable glovebox that doubles as a briefcase?
On the backseat is my Arai helmet, racesuit and gloves, for today is my first day as a factory Ferrari driver and I need to impress the 'Old Man' in Modena.

Fricking Alfa saloons though. What's wrong with you?

I was really tempted (I mean really tempted) by a 166 a couple of years ago. V6 3.0, dark blue with cream leather interior, fully historied, long MOT, hundreds spent in the previous year on brakes & suspension all round, very obviously cherished. On sale for £600 cos the seller was recently divorced and needed to sell it. If I was that guy having to sell all that car for such a pittance I'd want to kill myself.

Mrs. W threatened to divorce me if I bought it though....

I looked at the Alfa GT before I got the RX - looks even better in the flesh than in photos - only the 3.2V6 though :D

The only trouble with "interesting" cars of the last 10 years or so is that Joe Public went out and bought most of them in diesel form. I mean, who the **** wants a diesel coupe??

This is brilliant news Mart, congrats to you for getting your car featured. It's also great news for our cars in general, maybe it will limit the amount of people asking "What is it" :). I've seen the mag on the racks but admit to never buying it myself. Fast ford and Classic ford were more my mags back in the day but i will make the effort for this "Special". Remember to do some scans for a club feature thread. (y)

Great news, well done for 'stepping in' at such short notice!

It's spooky because last month I was reading the magazine and made up my mind to write to them and suggest they do an article on the Cougar!

Its a good magazine, i have had a couple of them in the hope there might be a feature on the Cougar, if its going to get a good review then thats the mag to do it, every other magazine with anything to say about the Cougar has been ill informed and trotted out the same rubbish about how bad the car is.

Work mate had a red & black Alfa 164 clover leaf with Ferrari five spoke wheels, lovely car and engine was a work of art.

Congrats on your feature! Hope I can get a hold of the magazine here in the Netherlands as well.

Any preview pics of the shoot?:)

They contacted me to try and find a nice standard 24v probe for the article, sadly there are so few standard ones left and the only bloke I know with a couple to choose from wasn't able to make it due to family issues.

Damn shame as I thought a '90s coupe group test would have been great with all models in it. They weren't interested in a 2.0 so I was out :(

I agree Colin, so much ill informed stuff written about Cougars, even Clarkson thought it was a good car!
Let's hope Modern Classics gives the Coug the credit we know it deserves!
