my finished induction set up

it made a bit difference changing the tbh and cleaning the groove behind the gasket on the uim, must be an air feed for something certainley made a vast improvement

When i changed my UIM to the ST200 one, the old one was rally crammed full of muck behind the TB..it would be worth anyones while to have a good clean up in there.

defo agree just cleaning around the opening made a difference and for the sake of few quid for a new gasket, will give it a proper clean when i change the plugs no point taking it off twice.is it advisable to get a new gasket for the uim to?

if i get bored today i might even take the wire brushes to the uim,i done the maff before i fitted it and it cleaned up nicely

Gotta say Paul, it looks superb mate. Are you gonna put some ducting up to the filter?
I love how shiny you've made the TB etc look... is that just wire brush?

ive already got the ducting in from having just the k&n. it now gets a better feed from the ducting and the original inlet for the old box since adding the extended pipes pushing it closer to inner wing, the throttle body is a polished and smoothed one and the maff was done using wire brush attachments on a drill,i just took the sensor out bunged up the holes where it goes in and the small internal hole so no dust got in and attacked it with the drill

i think i sugested in another thread for someone to cut a hole in the bottom of there airbox and feed a pipe directly in to it

don't suppose there is any chance of someone doing a how-to remove upper inlet manifold and clean it properly??

I've done searches before for these but they are all dead links?

wish i had one, could mayb pick one up on ebay.... but would prefer a how to :ihih:

I will do a how to when i change my LIM..hopefully in the next couple of weeks.

But in the meantime..UIM removal is just a case of removing all the vac pipes (wrap masking tape round em and mark them up so you know what goes where..or take a few pics), disconnect the larger black vac pipes by pushing down on their outer sleeve and pulling up on the pipe, un bolt the egr valve if you have one, remove throttle cable, TB bellows and cables, unbolt the UIM itself and remove..it takes a bit of jiggling to get it out and away.
You are now free to remove TB and scrub away.
Most of the muck will be around the TB mounting and you can remove this easily..just be careful that whatever you try and clean the UIM internals with isnt abrasive..you dont want any bits getting inside and sticking in all the oily deposits in there only to come away and end up in your engine.
I happened to have a botle of BBQ cleaner which was a mild caustic solution..filled my UIM up with this and left it overnight, then gave a good thourough rinse with a hosepipe and left it to dry for a couple of days...the **** that came out was shocking.

Hope this helps for now.

I really like it apart from the cone cover. In my opinion, it is too close and probably restricting more than helping. Apart from that its very shiny and clean looking.

cheers paul believe it or not its not been restricted its actually catching more air from the bottom air feed and still getting a good supply from the side feed to
