Parked up for the last time

Once again this club has come to my aid :) Dave(DYG) has very kindly lent me his auto Coug so I'm not lumbered without a car so collecting that later from Mark in Bolton and Si has offered to collect tango and break the bits I want to keep and the rest of the car for me, I really do love this club.

Any enquiries for parts will now need to go to Si as he is taking care of that for me but I would wait until he has collected the car to know what's available, I am keeping hold of suspension and body kit for now just incase I'm able to acquire another cougar In the future. Engine gearbox etc is all in good nick and things like wishbones etc will be staying with Si to go from his place, which has really done me a huge favour as all local scrappys by me all required car to be on four wheels which would have meant all the good bits getting taken so a huge thanks to Si for his help and Dave for ensuring I'm not without a car to get princess to school etc.

Thanks guys

JJ

Well some progress has been made, those with sharp eyes will see DYG cougar in there that's keeping me rolling.

For sure Alan I don't want it to just sit there rotting I hope whatever bits are useful from it can help out other people, be nice to see your old engine end up in another cat, it still hasn't used a drop of oil since it went in still right up near max mark!.

Mark was good to see you today mate and see the improvements your making :)

A well looked after zetec that one Jas, prior to me owning it, it had done mostly motorway cruising, never thrashed. Infact the harshest treatment it had was probably by me and although i like "fast" i'm not keen on crazy, so top end was usually acheived at a leisurely pace (i do know a nice policeman who would argue that point though) :)

Only just caught up with this, as others have said, it's a shame to see her go, another unique one has gone. The memories that go with them are more precious than the car itself, once the car has gone I suppose that we somehow think that it marks the end of future memories being created. That has been the reason why I have held on to mine for so long, I just wouldn't want this to end, for me, UKC without a cougar wouldn't be the same. I keep thinking of replacements but deep down I keep thinking of keeping the car for a little longer and getting rid of the silver one and buying Ria a new car.

It must be difficult for you Jason, it will be for all of us when the time comes.:(

Very hard Rich in my heart I would dearly love to keep her and to be fair with all the offer of help and parts I probably could keep her going mechanically but as you know the paint on tango is getting very needy and needs both sides need rust sorting and respraying which is between £800-£1000 which in the foreseeable future I just won't have.

I will have another cougar without doubt at some point but it will never be Tango and like you say it's not do much the car as the memories of fix it meets and shows attended with good friends.

Well she's gone :( stupid as it sounds I could have easily shed a tear she fought to the end I'll give her that much wheel spinning up the trailer, dragging the sills over the ramp.

Absolutely gutted seeing her leaving knowing she's gone I know some will say its only a lump of metal but the memories and the time I've had tango is the longest I've ever owned a car.

JJ

SOme of us do know how it feels Jas. At first it is the car you see disappearing down the road, but the realisation later that it's the memories that car holds,. The material may be gone, but the memories remain always. Stomach churning feelings for a car? It's true, it happens mate.

On route back to scunny with tango in the rear view mirror.

Jason, I know this was a huge decision and for what its worth...i think it was the right one.

I could also tell you were a bit upset which is totally understandable.

Weather dependant...the suspension and other bits you want back will be on route with me to altrincham on Saturday.

All the best mate

Thanks Si not nice seeing your pride and joy of almost 5 years leave that way! But glad she put up a fight :) let me know on e bits are off dude as discussed hope the bits sell and go to someone else and help them out as I've had loads of help from a lot of friends on here. Thanks again for doing me this favour Si it's appreciated and means I get the bits I wanted to keep hold of which is brilliant if I manage to sort another cougar out.

On a side not that picture isn't working for me?.
