Post your highest mileage Cat...

Brush heads and handles comes to mind.

I read about him the other day and he reckons the only major thing he's had done was a replacement box because 3rd was wearing out, (no surprise there - he's a taxi driver...LOL).

Anyway, Mako and Tiger are both on 106,000 now. Mako probably won't do more than a few dozen more before she's sold, just to keep the seals and battery in condition. But Tiger is with me until something terminal happens to either her or me.

The only thing of note on Tiger is a noisy lay-shaft bearing (input side) on the gearbox, which has been that way for the year I've had her, and which I'll worry about when it actually lets go. Or when the clutch needs doing, whichever comes first.

I like my cougar, I find them great for munching up the miles on motorways
and they look good. I do a minimum of 400 miles a week to work and back
but it's very rare to see any cougars on motorways.
would be interesting if you have a view on why this is ?

seats might not be the comfortabliest , but mechanically car is sound , still on original engine and box ..very reliable motor if used frequently,
not a car for trips to the corner shop or just looking nice on the drive.
decent fuel economy ...

I agree, mine isn't keen on short trips but great for long trips.

Do auto boxes survive in to high mileages? Mine's on 150k.

Anyone see that Mondeo that has clocked up a million miles (997,313miles approx at last count) on the same engine (1.8L)
I wonder if a cougar can manage that

if it depends on mine... :p

im (not so) proud to say that my cat winds this hands down probably... :$ its currently at 466857 kilometers... which is 290000-ish? Once i sorted the buttons of the board computer i can read it off the display myself haha :) one of the many things need sorted...

so... its on the original engine.. its on the original gearboxes... it doesnt burn oil... gearbox feels and sounds like it'll die soon though :(

anyways... the 4cyl threat still gobbles up golfs and beamers at the red light... and with the few enginemods... i dont cut her much slack! respect betsy ( how my girlfriend named her... id gone for the crusher or something :'D ) a lot! and im still adding 500kilometers a workweek and an occasional roadtrip in weekends!
