Puma 2 Cougar

hi and welcome the guys are so right .
my oh has just got rid of a 1.7 puma yes a little rocket but crap handling was a reason to get rid. now jump into my v6 cougar and dream away nice handling, great growl and looks stunning .
only 1 insurance group difference .massive boot ,10mph top end difference between 4 pot and v6 .
if you have to travel for a good one do so ,scotlands not the place to buy come down south better choice and most club owners are from midlands/central england area theres a few guys local to you if you need help who are always willing to help

I sit corrected! I honestly thought the C2 stuff was a bit uprated from ours.

It just looks like non-slip finish on the top of the dash but as Alan has said I suspect the fit and finish are the same between both, just a slightly darker shade of plastic.

Black C2 zetec would look the dogs, and be mega rare (you can usualy spot a zetec as it wont have fog lights most of the time)

Hello mate and welcome!

By now you must have guessed that we are all mad on our Cougars - and rightly so!

We currently have three in our clan - a '99 C-1 2.0-Zetec in Silver-Frost...142k miles, no rust, run's like a sewing machine, drives like a dream, still does 130mph and averages high 30's/low 40's in real world, everyday driving - converted to full X-Pack spec including the heated screen, boot-changer and leather etc...and cost's just under a grand for a 21yr-old to insure with 2-yrs NCB...

I have an oddity...a 2000 2.5 'X-Pack' Manual in Tourmaline-Green...a 'change-over' C-1.5!...C-1 body and interior, but with the later C-2 type engine/box and electric's etc...mine is nick-named the Enterprise - she's done 164k miles and touch wood, still goes like a train with an unbelievably smooth, torquey & refined engine that does 30-35 mpg in real-world driving...No rust, she uses no oil, and everything still works - she gets looks wherever she goes and growls like a lion (not just a Cougar!)

Even my dad has fallen for the big cat's charms - he recently went out and bought a 2.5 V6 'Auto' X-Pack in Blurple - One Owner, 78K-Miles, Full Ford Service History...a few little mark's on the corner of the bumpers that need doing and was going to need a pair of tyres shortly...
Just serviced, with 12-Months MOT & 6-Months Tax...for £875.00!!!

We're now working on my cousin to go out and buy an Ebony-Black one - he's resisting, but can't hold out for much longer!...say's he ain't got the garage space, but even he knows thats a really lame excuse (he's sitting hear next to me laughing as I type this!!!) he knows he'll have one soon and then we'll have a full set!

That should give you an idea of just how good they are mukka - If your young, go and buy a Zetec, fit a set of leather and front fog's and enjoy it...You really won't regret it!!! :)

Regards - Guy. (Duratec)

Get a 2.0L Cougar 2 rare as rocking horse do do but you get a much better interior and all the problems on the earlyer model are fixed....not that i'm biased obviously ;)

Huh?

I always thought apart from the cosmetic bits they were the same?

Sounds like my desire to step up from the Puma to Cougar is the right thing all round.

i can't get the time off work to go south to get the cougar, so i'll have to stay here.

I'll def start with the 2.0 and bring her upto condition so i can enjoy her.

Just gonna have some explaining to do when i tell them i'm ditching the old motor and errrrr '' seeing what i can get '' then rolling in with a cougar.........hmmm:LOL:

ps,

When did Alucard believe in god ?

when god believed in him. ;)

Why do V6 owners think that? o_O

Not all of us do Al, only a few. I personally like both, just prefer the growl of the V6. Infact I was only just thinking the other day, if I were to get rid of the Mondy, would I replace it with a 2ltr Coug? However....I love the fuel economy of the Mondy....possibly buy a 2 Ltr Coug, rip the guts out and replace with my TDDi engine!! ....now there's a thought...and it would be the first ever Turbo Diesel Coug....and I would be hated by all enthusiasts!! lol

I was biased against the zetec prior to owning one. Yes, the noise of the V6 is nicer (generally speaking), and yes the V6 is quicker.....but the zetec is just fine and dandy thankyou

you can't beat the burble of the V6, i literally want my exhaust to die though so i can get myself the twin exit system in stainless steel, in the mean time, i've polished up the current exit pipe, and it looks ACE.

Andy(ACE)Clarke.

I love both too - each have their own merit's and pitfall's...

The only reason I bought a V6 was, in all honesty - that I wanted an X-Pack, and instead of converting another one, it was easier just to buy one with it in already!...(I do love the extra torque and that growl of the V6 though!) ;-)

Guy.

Ah yes good point....my poverty spec zetec is not exactly poverty spec anymore lol
