Rear shocks

in your present scenario with cost being imperetive, I would actually fit a known good used one, as discussed elsewhere.

If you are replacing one (for new) you really need to change both imho

That's what i was going for Si, but the thing with buying off eBay is that you don't know if it's a good one or not ?

i appreciate its not ideal mate, its a tough call.

I am off over to my dismantling HQ tomorrow morning. I will double check that we don't have any lying around. I think the ones we do have are attached to a car, but I will check.

I agree, the biggest issue i would have here is, A) price of part plus B) cost of postage could easily amount to the total cost of a new part from a local autospares. If i was replacing a single shock absorber for any reason, it would be a dry used one , you can be fairly sure that by replacing a single used unit it wouldn't upset the balance as much as fitting a single new one.

As Si says piece of cake.....with the right tools

T50 or 7mm allen key
sockets 15,18,10mm
18" extension, or combination of

Remove wheel
remove caliper and carrier
disconnect drop link
undo pinchbolt at bottom of leg
knock seven shades out of hub in downward direction til it comes off the damper
remove 2 10mm bolts inside turret at top
pull bottom of leg outwards sharply and hard, until it falls out!!! lol
Swap spring etc if needed, (spring compressors MAY be needed but rears are usually ok)
refit damper (hardest bit is prying it back onto stop)
Refit everything else in reverse order
Crack open a cold one ;-)

any severely corroded bolts SHOULD BE REPLACED

Is there anyone in adds neck of the woods that could do this work? Even for payment, albeit less than the local garage if they want to charge silly money
