Severe Sleeping Disorder diagnosis

Hopefully now diagnosis is in treatment will follow swiftly, obviously the covid thing will slow things up but once the information is downloaded from your machine to the doctor he will see its working OK and then DVLA will be informed and your licence returned.

That's slightly worrying, mine is set at 10, perhaps its the mask fitting ?, had both full face and nose mouth cover designs, they can come adrift as you shift on the pillow and leak.

What position do you mostly sleep , I mostly lie on the right and on my right arm, lying on your back is a classic for snoring, weight does obviously effect things, since being diagnosed with type 2 diabetes as well I have gone from 20 stone 2 pounds to 16 stone 10, its made a significant difference to how I feel now.

Paul, I know that your apnoea has a specific cause, but I did a bit of light googling and it turns out that there are some foods that will trigger it.

And I know that this will be hard to hear, but in the hours before bed, stay away from:

Fatty meats (especially pork)
All dairy products, (except maybe a splash of milf in your tea) <-- I made a typo and it's staying.
Processed carbs (which is a bloody minefield, but you can help yourself by looking at the sugar content)
Chocoloate

And this last one is weird, but... bananas. They trigger mucous production which make snoring worse and will undo what the CPAP is aiming for.

I'll add the usual disclaimer that I am not a doctor and not qualified to give medical advice, though everything I have said above is perfectly safe unless you're a monkey.

I hope the treatment starts working for you soon and you get your license back mate.

Paul, try some lung exercises.
Because of my asthma i looked into it years ago, but resistance breathing (almost like using sub aqua gear) means you have to breathe harder, therefore exercising everything from your lungs all the way out to your mouth. I used to use a small tube, takes a while to get used to it but even 20 mins a day was helping.

Hi Mabo, doing ok thanks, just started the 7th month of not having a driving license which is hard going but the CPAP machine is working. So I started with stopping breathing 78 times a night, with the machine I am down to 4.9 times a night so that is a fantastic improvement and I feel it with not being as tired throughout the day, Gem is getting better sleep as well as my snoring is allegedly much quieter.
I had a letter from my specialist in may saying I am fit to drive again so I reapplied for my license but with the DVLA still making use of the furlough and staff working from home the usual 10 week turnaround is out the window so now just hoping to get it back at some point this year now
