The UKC.COM Chris Adams Award

Absolutely.

Congrats to the winner - for what ever reasons the respondees had.

Can i ask jason, how many different nominees there were - just out of interest?

29 people cast a vote/nomination.

10 were nominated.

A little disappointed looking down the list of people I expected to make a vote/nomination and didn't and pleasantly surprised at some who got nominated.

Will you be posting up the names of those that did get a vote JJ ?
It would be nice to know who made the short list.

I won't be revealing who got how many votes as I think that would be unfair but I will post up names of anyone who got a vote. Unsure at the moment of how exactly we will be revealing the winner of the trophy but the presentation of trophy will be done at Blackpool if they are in attendance.

Yes I agree, it would be unfair to say how many votes but it would be nice to see the full short list of names.

Whoever it is that has got it should feel proud, to even affect another person enough to stir them to put your name forward is enough, it means that you have done something good on here, part of what makes this club what it is. If the peripheral members just scratched the surface and looked inside, they'd see something special, as I have for the last 8+ years.

Sure, there are good and bad times, but we've shared them and continue to share them. As much a I have tried, no other forum can give me the abuse that i get on here!!:LOL::LOL:

Absolutley agree Rich. This award should mean so much, in memory of a fine man who is so sadly missed by myself and i know i'm not the only one. One thing is for certain, i'll carry the award to Blackpool as if it were the crown jewels themselves. I feel a lot of pride not only to be in possession of the award, but to have been asked to take such an involved and responsible task of making the right choice, all the time thinking what Chris's opinion would be. I'm glad i seem to have made the right choice.

Update

As you are all aware, we will be presenting the Chris Adams Memorial Trophy to a deserving winner at Blackpool.

Those of us involved have got our heads together and would like to suggest 11.30 am as a suitable time to present the trophy.

We would welcome input from anyone who won`t have arrived by then, if everybody is happy with this then we will not alter anything

Again, many thanks for your help

Ri

Sorry that we cannot be there with you all. I hope it's a great meet and hope that the person deserving the award feels both very proud and knows that they are loved by the entire forum. Have a great time guys, will be thinking of you all there.

The presentation took place this morning, with these words:

"Of course many of you will know me, but because UKCougar.com is a thriving and growing club, there will those here I have barely met, so let me introduce myself. I am the partner of Chris Adams, the energetic events organiser who tragically died at the beginning of the year.

The attendance of so many members at Chris's funeral showed both the respect he earned, and also what a wonderful supportive group of people make up this club. Both of those points were further emphasised by the decision of members to contribute towards an award, the Chris Adams award, in his memory.

At this point we must thank Al, pid16v, for the work he put into selecting and commissioning what many have commented upon is a most appropriate and fitting trophy, the lines of which evoke the V of the Cougar's bonnet. Thank you Al.

Chris will be remembered for his dedication to the club and his friendly, infectious enthusiasm. Many tributes were paid to him early this year, and remain in the forum for all to read, so it is not necessary to add to those now. Instead we are here to see Chris's spirit carry on in a number of individuals who continue to put time and effort into the activities which keep the club and forum going to the benefit, both collectively and individually, of other members .

Nominations were opened in July, and all subscribers to the ukcougar.com forum were able to vote for any subscriber of the forum they felt deserved the award. It is a measure of how much different members do contribute, that 11 names received votes. Until earlier this week, only JJ – Jason – knew the winner; he then shared that information with just Rik and me, which means I can tell you this:

The winner of the award is someone who has energetically participated in every facet of the forum and of club activities.

He has contributed a great deal towards different areas of the forum. His skills as a moderator are well respected. Should discussions get heated, he is someone who shines more light than heat on the debate. He knows the Cougar inside out and he shares that knowledge generously in the technical sections, providing practical advice which has spared many members hours of work and expenditure.

He has been a regular and keen attendee at events for several years, invariably helping construct the gazebo before getting stuck into some minor Cougar modification which another member wants help with, often while his other half is busy with the catering.

But it is not only the minor modifications which the winner of this award assists other with. He has most generously provided assistance at his own home with much larger projects which have on a number of occasions involved accommodating others overnight when his boundless capacity to help has exceeded what can be done in one day. His work in this area alone would have justified his winning of the award for the number of others he has helped.

It does not end there. He's an active Cougarforce carrier, helping get Cougar bits and pieces around the country between members for free. In fact I believe he is this very day involved in such an exercise.

I could go on, but by now I think many will have guessed who the most deserving winner of the award is. As he is one of the first people Chris Adams spoke to in the club – not surprisingly to get some advice from – someone Chris was proud to call perhaps his closest friend in the club, Chris would have been delighted that this very first award of the trophy is going to pid16v, Alan Pidduck."

WOOO!!! HOOOOO!!!!! Well done Al, you are very deserved of this award. Also well done to all the runners up who were nominated (if known). I am so pleased that you were the first to receive such a fantastic award, Chris would have definitely had a large smile on his face in seeing you receive this. Well done again.
