Thundercat

Judging by the way this car seems to have been treated, I'd be surprised if the owner(s) since Paul hadn't used it to shunt the wheelie bin out of the way if it was left somewhere inconvenient. Buckled wheels - wtf? I've never had a car without alloys and most have been fairly large and I've yet to buckle one. Do people think you can just drive up kerbs at full speed or what? Are there footprints on the doors as he's kicked them shut on his way out too?

Some people just shouldn't own machinery. Hopefully he'll lose a small fortune in this car. He deserves to IMHO. Show car or not - you should treat things with respect. If you don't treat stuff (and especially vehicles) with respect you'll end up somewhere between eternally skint and dead prematurely.

And another thing - it's difficult not to form an overall impression of a whole person based on the way they treat high value property.

Well said that man (y)

It would seem that poorly Thundercat needs assessing properly, the bodywork and wheels are a minor issue compared to the fact the blower has been disconnected, there could be some major issues there which need sorting out, i know Paul had issues getting it through the mot originally so maybe its just a throwback from that, but running that engine long term with the blower disconnected wouldnt have done it any favours

Seconded, just why would you wreck the car? It's a sad ending for a car that's had a chequered history with the various experts who promised the world and delivered problems. It's sad that we never saw it how it should have been.

It might not be over yet if someone is brave enough to take this car on. But it will take a lot to make it into a great car again. Might be a bridge to far though, we will see.

I'd have no qualms at all taking this on, but for nowhere near the asking price, it would have to be bought as it is, a wreck! with no mot in need of the vic, even after the work is completed. But all for nought, even though i have the time, and the inclination, and probably 90% of the knowhow, i don't have the spare readies. My feelings are that if this car is "saved" it'll be at the cost of it's uprated running gear and engine, being replaced with the standard V6 spec.

TBH someone should have bought it off Paul in the first case then this wouldn't have happened, most if not all the iconic cougars that were around when I joined are either dead or MiA now because the wrong people took them on or they were sold out of the club, its a case of crying over spilt milk and shutting the door after the horse has bolted I think :(:(

I can't believe what a mess that poor coug is in!! Arrgghhh!!! No damned respect. I think also there maybe even worse damage underneath the rear if both rear alloys are buckled I'd say that the back axle etc. may be bent too, which is possibly why it's a cat c write off. This car definitely needs a)someone who has the money and b) someone who will give it the much needed TLC to bring it roaring back into life.

I need to win the lottery!! I'd have it and would then spend a lot of money on it. Yes, I know it's just a 12 year old car....but it's a Cougar!!!!

Have today if I had £1000 I'd buy it the work needed isn't a major hassle tbh. Brakes refurb them new discs and pads. Tidy the whole car up cosmetically easy. Rear brakes catching is just wrong offset wheels. Get engine looked at worst case scenario chuck a standard lump in while sorting charged lump out. Biggest job is quarter which is a body shop job.

I like the colour of it.

I'd quite like to see this painted silver, with a C2 interior, US spec tail lights and the side vents gone.

If anything wasn't right with the engine, substitute a 3L block, new pistons and valves. The forged conrods and balanced crank could go to the 'new' engine assuming they were ok. That would be a nice time to sell on the Quaiffe diff and fit Mondeo 4x4 transmission instead.

Can Matt have a section of his very own entitled "State the bleedin` obvious"

I must admit I do like Jamie`s idea of a forum purchase, at least it will be saved.

I would happily put some cash into it, others could contribute in other ways.

If I could find somebody who could help with the bodywork I would happily buy it myself, I have a fair bit of bodywork experience but no longer have the facilities (all of my garages are full) and take the risk as a "shareholder" and deal with the mechanical issues

Might I just say don`t be too hard on the guy that owns it, I think he just had delusions of grandeur when he bought it and didn`t realise what he was taking on, ownership of a car like Thundercat takes a huge amount of commitment and I don`t think he had the talent, not everybody is as obsessed as we are

10 people at £100 should secure it..........obviously the finer details would need to be sorted

There is so much I would like to say about the owner but won't. I always new the car would get trashed when I sold it to him, but I had no choice as he was the only interested party.

I woud love to know how he trashed the 19"Khans and what happened to the leather front seats. As for cracking the carbon fibre airbag cover????? wtf?

Anyhow, would love to see a decent owner take the reins and bring it back to an even BETTER condition than before.
