TopCats Bikes Thread

I don't know very much about bikes... What is that cross-piece between the pipes for? Is it something that multi-cylinder bike engines need or benefit from?

It’s common on twin cylinder bike engines. Usually referred to as the balance pipe.
Technically I don’t know any more about it’s function than the balance pipe name says.

It is hollow.

So after arguing with the entire bike to remove the oe header system (I kid you not, the bloody tank has to come off!!!) I managed to get the new headers fitted (even they weren't straight forward lol)

Also managed to cut all the surplus brackets off the new cans, and slotted the connecting flange so they could be clamped onto the headers, which means tomorrow............

.........I'll be making some new mount brackets using the time served CAD system lol

Well what can I say lol
A mate messaged me last week saying he was considering another bike but was struggling for space and grief from his missus 😜 so I said I've neither of those issues at which point he slowly talked himself out of it lol so I messaged the seller and hey presto this happened 😁😎🀘😁

It's a 1975 Bonneville T140v 750 and a rare bit of kit as it's what I call an Inbetweener, ie summat made in between a model change, a bit like a C1.5 like my Cougar lol for those who know it's oil in frame unit construction 750 which was built with right hand gear change, rear drum brake and single front disc, so a proper half breed lol.
Had to have a bit of a change round so got all the toys out in the sun

For those who are thinking this is the engine free green version lol the engine came in boxes, the crankshaft has been ground, bores done, new pistons, balanced crank, new shells, V head has had new guides and valves, so I just need to refresh the gearbox (which looks a tad poorly) and the primary drive before rebuilding it, which I'm really looking forward to πŸ˜πŸ˜πŸ˜πŸ˜πŸ˜ŽπŸ€˜πŸ‘

This is my 4th Triumph, the first of which was a 200cc Tiger Cub 1966 with right hand shift, at the same time i also had a CB250RS with a sidecar on it so the daily swaps between bikes were.........................interesting ;) 🀣🀣🀣🀣

One of the reasons I sold my Suzuki GV jeep a few years ago was I kept turning the windscreen wipers on to indicate which way I was planning to turn.
For some reason other road user couldn’t understand my signals πŸ™„πŸ˜΅β€πŸ’«πŸ˜‚
