Does any one know what conrods are fitted by standard? are they I beam or H beam, also need to know if possible what material they are made of, google doesn't know :stop:

They're I beam. Don't know what grade of steel. You could have shavings of one of your numerous dead engines sniff tested to give the steel grade.
I am just toying with some ideas for my spare engine, working out what internals I can change to assist in boosting power, need to work out my power before sorting out a frame to handle it

Sounds interesting - could you have the standard ones shot peened to strengthen them maybe?
I can run a stage 2 turbo on I beam rods with a maximum of 9psi which after a remap should give me about 270bhp
Stage 3 would mean changing camshaft and putting H beam rods in which is about a grand but I can only spend £4k on the build as they are the rules lol stage 2 will cost £2,700 so leaves me £1300 to build the chassis, minus £200 for the engine and box

Thanks Matt but the rules state one man build lol going to be making a few trips to the scrap yard for cheap parts like driveshafts and steering if I can find something pre power steering lol

If the budget would allow I would definitely get a set of K1 rods but it doesn't so I wont lol
V6 is quite a heavy lump for off roading aint it... very interesting to see how this goes though...good luck��

Incidently I seem to recall the bearing sizes are the same between both engines. Not sure about the centre to centre length though. They're possibly even the same connecting rods.
