Hey all, well Ive been busy sorting out the bodywork on my Cougar as it was a bit untidy when I got it, also Someone had painted both rear quarter panels with a rattle can which was the wrong shade lol. In the past I have re-sprayed about 5 cars and a LWB Transit and Ive been getteing better every time so im not bad but not the worlds best at it either. Originally I was considering getting the right colour paint mixed up (Icey), and repainting both sides of the car. I have noticed a bit of a ding in the bonnet and it would be a shame not to sort this out while im at it. I figured if Im going to paint both sides and the bonnet, both bumpers need doing too, then why not paint the full car. Then I thought if I paint the full car why not have a colour change?? The car is totally standard with no body kit, no side skirts or extra bits of trim (Yet??). Ive seen some cougar pictures that I like, the two colours that I fancy are a White car with bits of gloss black in places and I really like the complete Satin Black too but I dont want it to look RAT-tish?? I just wanted to ask if you guys were to have a re-spray what colour would you go for??

I'd stick to your own colour. There's painting the full car, and there's painting the full car. A doors shut respray is a lot less work than stripping all the interior out and masking up the engine bay to paint the inner wings etc. If you keep the original colour you can mask all the door, tailgate and bonnet shuts and paint the outside, cutting in once finished.
For what it's worth I agree with Jamie, but if I was going to go for a complete respray it would either be pearlescent white, like Audi used to do for the 80/100, or Rover Nightfire Red.
Some nice ideas out there. I like the tartan suggestion, ill send my apprentice to see if they have any tartan paint tomorrow

Trophy Blue if it's the pearlescent electric blue colour you mean? The blue/green flip colour was called Typhoon.
Wow, there must be an art to applying that flip paint. I've heard that its something to do with adding a different colour tint to each layer of lacquer and applying each coat in a different direction to get the colour changing effect?? Anyone know if that's true or how they do it just out of interest. Not that I'd ever dare to try something like that!
Do whatever you feel suits you best. A car colour is an individual taste anyhow. Good luck with it.
I like the "Pepper Red" version of the Cougar, which i think was only available in the states and not an option over here.
Not sure of the proper name of the red, But its really nice and and it suits the car.
