What colour re-spray would you choose?

Wow, there must be an art to applying that flip paint. I've heard that its something to do with adding a different colour tint to each layer of lacquer and applying each coat in a different direction to get the colour changing effect?? Anyone know if that's true or how they do it just out of interest. Not that I'd ever dare to try something like that!

Give it a go. How would anybody know if you got it wrong!

I like the "Pepper Red" version of the Cougar, which i think was only available in the states and not an option over here.
Not sure of the proper name of the red, But its really nice and and it suits the car.
Lot of work though, to completely change the colour.

Lazer red?

The trend now is for MATT WHITE.
Candy Apple Electric Blue is nice, or try the specialist paint suppliers, there are a couple of paints that change colour when heat is applied (look a bit like petrol on water effect) would be interesting to see how they would work on the Cougar's bonnet as the V6 does give off a fair bit of heat.
Jjs old cat was a decent colour too ;) ford do a couple of decent metalic oranges (don't go the asbo route :what:)

Matt White? Why would anyone like a paint job for there car straight off a 10 year old Transit? Matt black yes, Matt white? No thanks!

Matt grey I can picture - but only because I've seen it on Focus RSes.

I think I'd have to see matt white in the flesh before deciding. It sounds a little like it'd look like a rattle-can job, but I'm prepared to be turned around on that opinion.

And by the way - what ever happened to those paints that changed colour - quite dramatically - when a current was applied to them?

Hmm...

Trends are just that - trends. You need to think very carefully about matt colours before going that route. Their durability is highly questionable.

Besides, what kind of weak minded wally wants to be led by a trend? Make your own bl**dy mind up and sod what the Min Power lot are doing to their chavved up Corsa VXRs.

I have sprayed loads of cars, probably runs into hundreds. Every one of them, When it gets
to the grey primer stage I think wow that looks good. And i have often thought about whacking
some lacquer over it to see how it comes out But have never been brave enough.

I don't suppose you run a sideline in touch ups? Our trusty little Fiesta has picked up a few 'war wounds' in the 5 years we've had it, I'd love to get them sorted if the cost isn't prohibitive.

It just looks like a medium grey to be honest, even with a matt lacquer.

The wings and empennage here were done with Halford's primer:

If it wasn't black, then it would have to be Base pearlz sugar apple or possibly RAL 6018 which is like Kawasaki green.

Awesome Idea!!
