What Have You Done to Your Cougar Today?

The weather was fine on Sunday so took the doors off to troubleshoot the dodgy central locking, cleaned the contacts, then put the doors back on. The problem is still there so troubleshooting to be continued another day ....

After a few weekends of Puma-ing, I thought I do some stuff to the Cougar.

First up, new trims over the door openings (thanks Paul). Old:

Well happy with these, they really are a big improvement.

Next up, a rear strut brace (thanks Mart):

Pleased with this as well, I haven't driven too far with it fitted yet, but it definately makes a positive difference - the car seems to ride bumps better and generally feels more "together". And it looks the business too :)

Well hello everyone seems ages since I've actually posted in here.

So I've just picked up my FRS gearbox... picking the engine crane up from Matt tomorrow and then I'll be pulling the engine and box out :D

This was the gearbox oil.... (BLACK) as you like and only done 5K at best... certainly wasn't this colour when it went in haha....

I did a bit of "MOD repair and replace" today. My rear infill has been on the bench for a while so i thought i should give it a new lease by re-inforcing it and giving it a new paint job. I also left it blank...for now ;).

Then i moved to the front to find out why the grill badge light isn't working. Simple answer, the led bulb had blown so out came the grill and out came the bulb. I happened to find some white led strip which i've had for about two years for another mod that i never got around to but maybe now i found it!
...so, one newly functioning cougar grill badge:

Well not today, but Monday-Tuesday;
And not by me, but my "retained mechanic"!
Jet has:
New waterpump, thermostat (had been taken a while to blow warm), cambelt and (3) pulleys, aux belt.
Also pair rear shock absorbers and ARB 'D' bush (was attempted last time but bolthead had rounded off, previously changed one ARB and droplinks, was when leaked SA was spotted).
Brakes were pronounced fit (I've had Jet for a year and the pads on it, mechanic described as 'like new') so new discs/pads remain in boot.
Most parts from EuroCarParts, free delivery never takes longer than paid-for express, bushes and droplinks from sellers on Ebay. Whaterpump had been ordered from Ebay seller for £16.48 but never arrived, ECP supplied for £22+ only thermostat (£6.50) wasn't ordered on one of their 30% off sales.

Cost of work done parts and labour circa £300.
