What Have You Done to Your Cougar Today?

Broken my rear ARB mount off of the sub-frame. I heard a loud bang when I was reversing out of my drive today and then rattling as I was driving. Just had a quick look and the N/S bracket is hanging loose. I suppose that's my sub-frame goosed then.

Have you got the 21mm ARB fitted? If so those brackets do need upgrading/reinforcing.

Gave MV51 it's first wash for over a week (more like 3!). Craftily (Not!) I waited until a torrential downpour was imminent before getting the relevant tools out so the task was completed with just a half bucket from the tap and no hose. Now I hope tomorrow will be dry so I can apply the polish, take each wheel off to clean the arch liners and alloys' insides.
The interior will also be seen to before packing for Sunday CF.

If it does turn out to be that, Tony and I can help. But they're pretty much universal.

So have you got a diagnosis now? Sounds like an air/fuel leak somewhere?

Oh! So what needs to happen to get you roadworthy? Where has it failed?

I Don't know yet Chris, I will have a good look at it tomorrow if it is not raining. Having a think about it earlier tonight, it may just be the bolt that has sheared from the U bracket. I hope so.

What hope is there if the likes of even Tiger being taken off the road?! I hope you can keep hold of her. Sincerely.

It wasn't today, but on Tuesday Rana went from running wonderfully to sounding very off. After a horrible journey home, I decided that she needed to go into a garage rather than look at her myself. I simply need her fixed as she's my daily.

The symptoms are new to me. The engine was shake, the tone of the engine lower, smell of fuel and bounced off the anti-spam at times after throttle. My fear (optimistally) is that an injector wasn't firing or something. The early injector clips are so ******* stupid I'm surprised the bloke who thought of them managed to form enough words to pass an interview. By my own hand, they're cable tied in. She has been running fine, but no longer. Perhaps one of them snapped with the heat. The garage bloke seemed to ask all the questions consistent with a head gasket crack, but I dont think that's the case. He said he'll fetch me a quote but nothing after 2 days (I told him I have a 2nd car so am in no rush).

Bummer.

Still. Nothing like turning up to a new job in a rally car. First impressions bait.

Just read through this, Olly it may be that you have over tightened the cable ties and squashed the o ring preventing it making a good seal, if you are going to use cable ties then only do them up tight enough that they prevent movement

Me too. Good luck, my friend.

If in doubt, get pictures!

Split on mate, thankfully I have spares as they're not available anywhere to buy!

hey olly

garages often say its a head gasket when they haven't got a clue as the price simply scares off the owner anyhow...be carefull..

chris is comming over tomorrow so we can tickle tigers belly..your welcome to join us so we can see whats going on with yours if you want.

Well I got under the car today and had a good look at what was happening with my ARB and sad to say, the bracket has rotted away and the U bracket has been all bent out of shape and the ARB bush has disappeared. Looks like I need an MFSM to change my sub-frame. I have a new one that I bought a couple of years ago, but, I am going to get the brackets upgraded and possibly get it galvanised.

Galv is definitely the way forward, Dick. You'll be pretty much guaranteeing that the subframe will never rot out again whilst that car wears a number plate.
