What Have You Done to Your Cougar Today?

Coat of Hammerite over yesterdays primer. Tank strap dropped to my engineering colleague, stainless steel replacement promised. New high tensile steel bolts sourced from my local engineering fixings supplier to replace the butchered ones. Just need to bite the bullet and remove the filler neck next, prob save that till the weekend.

You may get lucky with the filler pipe. I took mine off and it looked like it was rotten, but, after attacking it with my angle grinder fitted with a twisted, knotted wire brush, it came out looking like new again. Some treatment with Bilt Hamber Hydrate 80, Galv Zinc Primer and a couple of coats of Hammerite smooth black it is like new.

Thanks Dickl, so I've heard and maybe your right but I'm still uncomfortable with the state of it. Seems this is the thickest steel on the car ! I'll drop it off and plan from there. I fancy getting one made, we'll see.

Well technically it's not mine just yet, but I've got the MOT booked for a week Saturday.....

1030 on the 23rd will be a tense time.

Just a quick rinse between showers and all ready for tomorrows trip. Polish etc stashed in the boot for Sunday. [emoji106]

So I know that there might be corrosion that I can't see, and I will deal with it in due course, but here's the start of dealing with the scabs:

That shine, though! Man I miss having black cars.

Thank you. I'll never be happy until she's resprayed (Panther, not Ebony) but I do my best.

Good work Chris. I'd be interested to see the level of finish you'll get, not that it'll be anything other than good ;)

You've seen my paintwork on models - it's just a case of scaling it up 48 times, right? LOL
