Spotted glasses??I'll stop being a douche and put you all out of your misery:
A friend of mine has a Noble M12, which has a Duratec V6 and an MTX-75 in it (and a pair of turbos). He dialled up the boost and eventually found out on track what the limits of an MTX-75 diff are. Just a smidgin less than 350 brake, in case you were wondering. Anyway, he went and bought a new one, then changed his mind and bought the Quaife instead.
What's in the box is the replacement - unused - Noble one which he gave to me gratis.
Interesting that you say that part number is for the Zetec - perhaps the Noble uses a Zetec diff to get a different final drive ratio? I'll have to do some research.
Anyway I haven't done anything to my car today, though I have discovered that I need to keep my sunglasses in a different storage compartment to my Tic-Tacs.

Noble parts are nice. The rods and pistons in the engine on the stand in my basement are out of a noble. As for the final drive no you just chang the ring gear. My concerns would be the output shafts and stuff inside. There was quite a debate on one of the forums I used to go to about the shafts being different in different years MTX75s but cant remember any of the details on it. I'll see if I can find it later.
Well fortunately I got the priveledge of speaking to Terry Haynes about working on my transmission but sadly he passed away before I got a chance to send it to him. He was one of the main guys or maybe even the main guy who helped with the development of the MTX75 I believe for Ford and then later Noble. But for Noble for sure. And no its not just a stock box shoved in. They have special coatings inside the boxes and on the gear sets as well as things like roller bearing shift forks and such. Some of those Nobles Ive seen around 400-500 all the way up to over 900 HP. there's no way that the stock box out of a cougar is gonna take it. I seem to remember the totally stock nobles that used the MTX75 was around 400hp.No, but all I could smell was lime, orange and mint on my drive home.
To be honest, I'm not sure just how different the Noble gearboxes are from the ones installed in the Contour/Mondeo/Cougar. Someone (I think it was Paul Procomm) told me in the past that the standard ones should be good for up to around 350bhp, so it's possible that Noble just slapped a standard one in and called it a day.
I had a good look over the car and the amount of Ford gear in it is hilarious - including the Zetec coolant header tank. And given the position of the engine (transverse mounted, rotated 180 degrees) the alternator is still a pig to do because of the rear turbo and the intercooler pipework, but the water pump... man, I wouldn't wish that job on my worst enemy. It's pressed up against the rear firewall, behind the passenger seat.
That sucks. Is it the portion of tube between the tank and filter? Or the filter to engine section?Well what have I done to my Cougar today, let me think.
I appear to have totally screwed up the fuel filter connection for starters, that's been good and just what I need. I also discovered the spare compressor sent by eBay is totally different to the one on the car, BUT it has let me see how it fits together and I have been able to remove the clutch plate; a bit clean and I might have a go and reducing the shim (i.e. washer) to see if that helps. I can't check it yet as my engine won't start (see fuel filter issue above).
Oh, I did manage to fit my cruise wheel without destroying the interior so that's something to be proud of.
You may tell I'm somewhat dejected today!![]()

Fixed the screenwash today, last few days Ive had to pump the lever in the car for it to come out, on the way back from Leeds yesterday it stopped working completly.
On removing the motor the filter was blocked completly with congealed screenwash and the two feed pipes near the pump blocked too..I took the lazy way out and replaced it with fish tank tubing good stuff that
On removing the arch liner to gain access to the screenwash bottle I found some rust starting to come though and also on the wing, good treatment with some Kurust and rust inhibiting paint soon had it sorted, another place to look out for with your rustproofing!
Phone decided to deltle the pic of the rust before but here it is looking good as newwill do the passenger side in the week
