What Have You Done to Your Cougar Today?

That 918 was brilliant. I'm also seriously impressed with that P1 though. I'm a bit of a Ferrari fan too but fear they may be disappearing up their own backsides calling it the Ferrari La Ferrari. That sort of suggests they have no plans to build anything better in the future to my cynical mind!

Carl if you're changing the gaiter search ebay for topgaiters they sell proper leather ones, or you could do as I did and get a mk2 mondy one

Thanks for the heads up steve mate , spotted one that looks mint and original by the looks of it(same leather hole pitted finish) 7.99 +3.99 delivery.
Just hope no one grabs it before I get it ordered on Wednesday next week or I'll be gutted!

Had two front tyres fitted ,2 x 225/40/18 Kumho £138 well chuffed (y)
Went on the motorway for the first time today since having my front tyres replaced ,at 70 the steering wheel began to shake violently so straight away i cut down on the speed.
Now my first thoughts were that they had not balanced the wheels properly so i took it to a place i know and trust to get them checked,my theory was right both wheels were well out of balance but then they also told me that THE DRIVERS SIDE HAD TWO SPIGOT RINGS ON AND THE PASSENGER SIDE HAD NONE . The place i went to was a large motor sport company that advertise their expertise in tyres and fitting, unfortunately it was too late in the day to complain to them but first thing tomorrow i will be giving someone a right ear bashing

Yes I agree , Ferrari are getting seriously pretentious , mind they are Italian!!
I think the super car are reaching the limits , I can't imagine the envelope going much further unless they make this of course!

Spread the name and warning mate , as I'm due wheels in a few months and am ordering from such a company... I'd be fuming!

I think you're right. The most modern I've played with was my boss' Ferrari California. He likes talking about cars and both of us are keen to drive each other's cars. Bearing in mind the Cali is their entry level model now: it was great. It was easy to drive, fast, refined, comfortable, quiet in the cruise yet vocal when spanked. It's just a bit too good though. My TVR is a pig in cities. The Cali is fine. Mine is viscerally exciting on a B-road, but the Cali is just normal. You have to do ridiculous speeds to get a modern Ferrari in to its groove and really feel the superb suspension working. You'll never feel how well balanced a Cali is driving at legal speeds. That's a shame really, I think. The more capable they get, the less enjoyment you get at legal speeds.

If you watch the intro the The Italian Job and watch that gorgeous Miura being wrestled at fair speed round switchback hairpins up a mountain side - even though a modern car would cream it - that is absolutely 100% what appeals to me.

Looking great matey. Will look forward to getting mine clay barred and machine polished before the wedding....less than 6 weeks to go.

Well if the weather stays good (it's been nice and sunny) I might make a start on refurbing the C1 alloys I've had lying about for a year and get them fitted to uncle fester the fiesta, oh and the front fog lights that Andy sold me at last year's castle Combe show lol (bumper off job for that) obviously all depends on how healthy I feel too
Got as far as sanding down one alloy ;) Its gonna take a long time I think to get the car sorted thanks to my health. Unless someone fancies lending me a hand :)

Once I've got things sorted here mate we would be happy to help you're only an hour up the road
:)

Cool, first things first I must see if the C1 alloys actually fit my fiesta lol

Hey Jamie what are your thoughts on the Porsche 944, my step-father-in-law to be has one in his garage that is in very very good condition just has a fuel issue (possibly sender or pump) and I'd like to concider taking it off his hands one of these days as he's in his 70's anyway so I doubt would ever drive it again (he has two daughters so they aint gonna be interested in it either) think it's the 2.7L but could be the 2.5L and it's a 1987 motor too

Fitted a oil catcher not really needed on a zetec but look cool lol and a chrome spark plug cover and air flow meter cover again chrome, then fitted flat blade windscreen wipers all 3 finished putting on leather covers on the interior door handles. Well worth taking a half day of work

944s are a gradually appreciating classic Matt. Can't go wrong with having one!

That's what I thought seen a few on autotrader that have been done up and actually look timeless, like they'd only just come out, seen a few driving around here look the same too.
Think the problem is either the fuel sender or the pump, either way with investigation it don't sound too expensive (£50 max) just think the old guy is a bit of a tight wad  that's why it ain't been fixed. Car needs a wipe down is all thanks to being in a dusty garage, other than that they were so over enginered they are built to last (fully galvanized body IIRC) and the fourpot motor is the most mentalist one you can buy too, trust Porsche not to mess about. Interior looks new too, shame its 80's purple cord (but hey I like it) but it matches the paintwork (burgundy metalic)
Have to get my best man Kully to have a look one day (I've heard it's quite a gower so I want to get it fired up so I can have a drive for myself)
944's are perfectly balanced too IIRC as the gearbox/transaxle is at the rear so perfect weight distribution with the engine at the front, so they don't handle like typical rwd cars either (i.e. Tail happy)

Matt, my line manager at work had one for years and loved it to bits. However, for those of who are a little larger than normal and tall, they are difficult to get into, as the seats don't slide back far enough. I tried to get into my managers 944, but couldn't get my legs under the steering wheel and when I did, I couldn't use the pedals. The seats aren't very wide and I found I was squishing the sides of the seat. I had problems getting out too, my manager (crying with laughter) had to pull me out LOL!!!!! So, not sure whether Kully would actually be able to get into it to drive it?
