What Have You Done to Your Cougar Today?

Yesterday and today....
Replaced faulty reversing sensor.
Diagnosed and fixed heated rear window - dodgy connection behind rear quarter panel.
Replaced radiator cap with a new one - old one was difficult to remove, I think the valve inside it was stuck. I'm hoping this will cure the coolant always dropping half way between max and min no matter how often I top it up.
Topped up the coolant.
Topped up the oil with Ford's finest 'Formula F'.
Replaced wiper blades.
Checked and topped up tyre pressures.
Took it out for a bloody good test drive! :)

Thank you! That's exactly what happens to mine! Its hard to remove and the coolant level falls without an apparent leak.
How much did the cap cost?:D:D

Thanks mate that would be cool.
I find mine appears to unscrew, but then you have to pull it off (oo-er), unless it's supposed to be like that?

If the cap vent sticks down you'll be loosing quite a bit to vapour.

Maybe that's why I have to pull it off?

Well I'm hoping the new cap will fix it. I'll have to wait a couple of weeks to find out.
Mine cost £14.55 on ebay, listed for a Transit but with the same FINIS code as a V6 Cougar/Mondeo 1230968.
There are other Ford caps that look the same but for other models/engines so make sure it's the above FINIS code.

I think the Zetec uses a different cap.

The part no. printed on the lid of OEM V6 ones is: 98BB 8100 AA

Really looking forward to seeing her.

Well my plans for today were thwarted by the fact that I only have three screwdrivers:giggle:
crosshead one would have rounded the foglight screws off, one flat was too big the other too small!
Never mind - I know what to ask for for my birthday now:LOL:

I did clean and tidy up the mudflaps John gave me though. Might paint them silver and pick out the lettering in black.

When you go to pant the lettering, rough it up a little with some sandpaper or the paint will come off in a jet wash.
