What Have You Done to Your Cougar Today?

Thanks John, they sound amazing

Might have to swap the 6000 head unit for something better to get the best out of them

What would you recommend for the rears (none fitted at the moment)

To be honest, I've never bothered upgrading the rears as I usually have the fader towards the front anyway. Not sure if the wiring is still in place for the rears or not, only one way to find out! Oh and if you fancy reuniting the front C2 seats with the C2 rears and door cards you already have - they're in Jaffa which Jim may be breaking soon. I've got a few odds and sods I'll pass to you at some point - a replacement chrome fuel filler surround and gasket, pretty sure i have a spare rear exhaust hanger or two and maybe some other bits too. I'll have a dig and see what I find. You can have whatever i find for nowt, it's of no use to me anyway!

Start a project thread for the old girl if you haven't already (y)

Thanks John, the wiring might still be in place, I am sure I can see the nearside speaker wires through the cover

I have already paid Jim for the C2 seats out of one of his cars, just have to fetch them from Telford!

I will start a project thread shortly and any bits you have would be very welcome thank you

Oil leak doesn`t seem too horrendous but the fuel filler needs sorting as a priority as the filler cap is cracked all the way across now

I think I have found the original supplier for the filler so will be buying a new cap and probably a length of flexible fuel hose as well which might help

She`s coming on slowly and I love driving her, hopefully we can get her back up to scratch eventually

Noticed one sidelight was out, so did the old trick of slapping the headlight and hey presto it's back on:geek:

An envelope marked 'AP Graffix' appeared this morning but you'll have to wait a bit to see the contents as the car is too dirty to stick them on:LOL:

Took mine for a longish drive and swear blind the exhaust is getting more - you know i cant quite put it into words but it sounds AWESOME.
Its not louder, maybe meatier ,maybe more of a rumble , maybe ..........oh i dont know just sooooooo much better than my last one

Must be 'the loon' effect.......................(y)

I remember my Mongoose 'bedding in' and developing a bassier note once I'd put a few miles on it. It always used to sound better when it was nice and hot, too. Out of interest, how does yours sound when you're just pottering or at a steady motorway cruise? I want an exhaust that you almost forget is there for the mundane stuff but comes to life when you plant your foot.

It was strange really when i first start the engine its like a very quiet low rumble, when on the motorway if you have the radio on you just dont hear it but like you say when you plant your foot to accelerate it seems to say LISTEN TO ME EVERYONE with a Bass note that is hard to describe , especially on a fresh piece of tarmac when theres no tyre noise

Glad you're enjoying it mate. That dark cloud had a silver stainless-steel lining!

I was at work today and my car had real trouble starting. Turned over for ages, and when it eventually caught on it was very delayed. I don't think my battery's an issue, so it'll be service time soon. I can't be bothered to fiddle around with spark plugs myself!

Finally! After weeks of inability/disability, i pushed myself to get out there into the cave and lift the bonnet on DG for some general maintenance. Not a lot, just minor stuff, but i decided to reset the ecu while i was in there by removing F6 which as some will know, on the 2001/C2 is a 3amp mini fuse. I put the fuse on top of the battery while i routinely checked, tugged and pulled at various pipes. Working from the passenger side, i reached over the battery to check something, and heard the faintest of "ting" :(. I knew right away what had happened. The cuff of my sleeve had dragged over the battery and swept the mini fuse into the engine bay (i knew i should have laid that damn fuse inside the fusebox). So i get looking under the car for this stupid fuse and couldn't see a damn thing. Twenty minutes i spent looking for it! and thinking, well maybe it's bounced on to the undertray, i which case it can stay there and i'll just get a spare from the stock i have. Sods law! I have every spare in vast numbers but not a single 3amp. Right! i thought, i'll just have to stick a 7.5 in there till i can replace it but first, i'll just have a final check. Standing at the slam panel, leaning in and scanning all around, THERE IT IS! The little (waiter who plays bass) thing is laying on top of the lower fan cage support just waiting to be blown away as soon as i turn the key. :) Replaced the fuse and all is ok, but the realisation that i had no spare fuse for the ECU/Engine management, prompted me to buy these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/321321101617?_trksid=p2059210.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT

That'll do me for a bed time story!

Glad it was found okay. Those things can be real buggars being so small. Ive not had to remove or play with any yet, but I'm aware of them, and have a spare in a bundle I got from Halfords that my brother and I share.

I haven't done anything to Rana today, but I have received a lovely looking induction kit and the spark plugs I ordered. I do need to have her serviced and the the plugs fitted which I'll do next weekend I think. I'm in Cambridge all this weekend - I dare say my battery will be relatively charged after all this cross nation trips [though admittedly Cambo is an hour away :)]

I have done the same with the little curved spring clip off the end of my bonnet lifter. It dropped into the engine bay when I removed the lifter to replace my rusty front wing. I am not as lucky as you Al 'cos I have not found it yet.

Fitted 65mm throttle body today and what a difference touch the throttle pedal and you are gone lol, pedal is very light compared to the std one, seem to be more torque through out the rev range too
