Oil change done. Or rather, I emptied the sump of the hell-spawned semi-liquid evil that was in there, and refilled it with oil.

These short journeys to work aren't doing her any good and the difference in the way she ran after the change was...alarming. I think I might have to start doing 6-monthly oil changes, even though I'm driving less than a quarter of the distance I used to.

Mine needs doing mate. Same reason!
MOT is due straight after Scotfest so that'll be my cue for giving it some love:D

I do mine exactly once a year. That's what I expect. The fact is that it's apparently not enough anymore.

I feel bad about it, even though Tiger has been a princess.
 
I bet my oil ends up like that too :( I do 5k a year and have the oil done yearly. Still, I know its better treatment than most 10+ year old cars get, so she can't complain too much.
 
It is. And it is utterly horrendous to work with on C1 lights because it doesn't like complying with the double compound curves caused by the "boobies". If you plan on trying it, buy enough to practice with first. Personally, I never really got on with it and gave up...

Anyway, Tiger had a good run down to Didcot so we could help out one of T's forum buddies with his TVR Cerbera. Complete cooling system replacement with stainless pipes, and differential oil seals. Absolute pig of a car to work on.

What oil are you using Chris?
 
I think the last lot was 5W30 Magnatec bought from Costco.

What I put in there the other day was Halfords-branded 5W30 "suitable for most of the latest high efficiency engines including all modern Fords from 1997 to 2005." Apparently complies to Ford standard WSS-M2C 913-B.

The Halfords oil I think you are refering to is rebadged Comma Xtech.

Not a bad oil by my understanding, probably better than Magnatec.
