Deliberately went along the back road from here to Stourport this evening as it's a fun drive - but got stuck behind a bus

not my cougar but gemmas, after spending last weekend taking engine out, fitting stainless headers and brand new alternator today it failed its mot, all 4 corners are rotten and the sill is so thin I have been advised that a welding bill of £400 is likely to fix it, car now parked up to decide whether to scrap it or try my hand at welding
I can't help but think that someone here with welding experience could help you. If I could, I would.
Heck, if you can get the equipment I'll learn with you. Spot you to make sure the wire doesn't go off the rails and accidentally earth itself on the welder chassis (because BANG!)

This is what is going to kill off most Cougars within the next few years for sure. Everyone was thinking that rear subframes were the worst thing that could happen. I have seen some quite shocking tin worm in the sills of quite a few cars now and it will only get worse if people do not treat in insides of the sills and remove those silly sound deadening pieces from the rear quarters.

My priority is finding a new job so the cougar is just going to sit where it is for now

I cleaned my earth's in engine bay and listened to my new induction kit sounding engine noise for first time on the cougar
Had a nice new pair of Kumhos fitted to the front wheels to replace the ropey old half-bald budgets that have been on since buying the car. Only done 6 miles on 'em so far but they already feel like a massive improvement.
