What Have You Done to Your Cougar Today?

Had the front control arms and track rod ends changed today then put in for MOT which she passed, only advisory is the near side rear anti roll bar bush which has quite a bit of play in it, bit anoyed about that as it was not picked up on last months service and i had Flow-Flex polyurethane ones fitted for last years MOT, been getting a clunk over pot holes for the last couple of months so must be the where its comming from, she has done 8000 miles since they were fitted so going ring Flow-Flex up on monday as i would assume they would last longer than that.
depends if they were overtightened mate

Nothing.
Well i actually went to fit LED replacements for the conventional bulbs in the interior/reading lamps.
Had bought several wedge 5w equivalent LEDs since these are used in many lamps around the car. Allegedly.
Except the reading lamps have bayonet bulbs and fittings

those map lights are a pain....not only is it really hard to find a bulb that fits, they're also wired a little oddly.

Take a look here and this should guide you :)

well its took me all week to do it but i now have a fully electric passenger c2 seat in melina.

even managed to install the lumber motor.

Nice one mate. Hope you took pics along the way? How did you mount the controls - Euro-spec fascia?

yes did take some pictures which im gona add to melina's thread soon..although i must say it was rather complicated to do.
not to mention nerve racking stripping a c2 seat down to the frame.
lots of bracket and cable reversing to do and welding.
as for the controls i did some dremmeling on the passenger cover which looks fine however the only downside is the seat switches are the wrong way round but is ok.
the hardest part was getting the runners mounted to the seat correctly ,if you look at a seat and the runners they are actually 1 inch offset so the seat sits closer to the centre console. obviously this caused the drivers side runners to ofset the passenger seat closer to the door...so they had to be reversed.
i wasn't going to do the c2 seat thing as i like the look of the c1 seats more but got fed up with mrs g telling me her scorp was much more comfy.

Can't wait to see the pictures; I'm trying to figure out how you managed the wiring, though I suppose all you need really is a strong pos and neg from the car?

Anyway, I think I might be under Tiger tomorrow, sorting out her exhaust. I think that shunt I got in December has upset the middle joint again, or maybe it's finally done for the 2-bolt joint. Because she's definitely blowing and it's apparently confusing the heck out of the lambdas.

Trouble is that T's middle sister has had a disaster at home (sewage backflowing into every house on her block - long story) so that will take priority.

well those wonderful ford people have actually put the wiring on the passenger side for u...the passenger side plug has the same wiring as the drivers so i didn't need to do any wiring there...relief!

as for the seat wiring i found out that you can actually take the multi plug apart and swap them over so no need to go chopping any wires..
if you need any assistance i could come over...i have some spare 2 bolt exhaust parts and a cat if its needed..ring me tomorrow if you want and i can give u a hand...i haven't forgotten we need to sort your welding out at some point also.
hope u are both well.

You're an angel, sent down from whatever heaven Mercury went to.

I've actually acquired all the parts - Y-pipe and cat - so no problem there. I'll fix it when it annoys me. The welding can happen whenever - Tig's MOT is in August and in the meantime, I know she's not going to rot and it's actually not that bad.

I think it's freaking awesome how enthusiastic and dedicated you are; one of you is worth ten of me for the club.

Anyway, T's sister needs us (sewage backflow into every house in her road!) more than Tiger needs sorting. It'd be great if we could get together soon socially though.

Amen!

With all these posh upgrades Paul you'll be wanting walnut trim next:LOL:

Well I was right - it was the centre joint, just in front of the cat. The bolts were maybe not as tight as they should've been, so some of the fire gum had come adrift. Amazing how such a small hole can make so much noise (heh-heh-heh).

Separated the joint, cleaned up both mating surfaces, re-gummed it and slotted it together. Tiger is now purry again instead of raspy. Sounded like a rally car before.

Did a bit of inspection while I was under there and as a result, she'll be getting new front tyres in the morning. The wear pattern suggests that the geometry is out, and so I think she needs new shocks. Not certain, but I think she's on the originals?

Maybe now you've done all the back mate it has shown up the fact the fronts were starting to go?

Almost certainly, mate. The only thing I've done to the front end suspension is replace the ARB drop-links because the seals had gone.

I don't know much of Tiger's history, (though Kully might). All I can say for certain is that her previous owner - who loved her very much - seems to have looked after her but wouldn't have replaced things frivolously. She's had a good couple of years commuting over country roads on what are probably the original shocks/bones and so it's no real surprise that things are a bit tired (LOL - tyred!) under there.

I'll put new tyres on and get her aligned, but acknowledge that they're going to wear a bit funny until I do my front-end tear-down. No big deal.
