What Have You Done to Your Cougar Today?

Every time I take the old girl out I get the feeling something is going to break or fall off, this morning I tickled her up to a ton with no ill effects, she purred along nicely. (y)

Yes the normal bit mate just inside the inspection panel...not entirely unexpected but still not nice to find.

I've been recently considering speaking to a fabricator or vehicle restorer about just slicing both sides out of the car and putting all new steel in.
A massive job but will see the car good for a number of years to come

Looks like this plan needs moving up the priority list.

NS rear qtr

Is that where the sill damage is from when it slipped off a jack? I remember at Dave's we had the rear "doorcard" off and hammering from the inside to try and hammer the dent out. Wonder if that has damaged the surface and caused the rust?

Dave did some welding in that area too at the MFSM at his place.

I remember it well mate I was there when Dave did it.

It's the same ish area...and it's really crumbly and in no way solid
There's a bit creeping up the wheel arch too from behind the skirt kit.

Thing is the only way to properly assess the damage is to pull the skirts...and get the tin opener out.

Well I'll do whatever it takes of course. But I really do think the thing to do is just chop both sills out entirely and put an end to it for good

We sure do.
In other news...
Today I have blown up my alternator for the 3rd time. One does find this a little tedious
I was giving her a little abuse on the onslip for the motorway. Battery charging light suddenly comes on. I managed to get to complete my chore and get her home, presumably on battery power. I did stop to check she hadn't thrown the belt but that's intact.
I can only guess she's blown the regulator Again. It seems the best solution is to strip it off the alternator and mount it somewhere cooler. OOh I can't wait for the joy of pulling the damn alty, again !

That sounds like your mega fuse might be shot.

Well just finished sorting Gems Cougar, traced the rough running down to the Throttle Position Sensor, changed that and now running beautifully, last week on her way to college the near side front Abs reluctor ring decided to snap and fall off, so that was my main job for today, luckily I had a spare so after chiselling off the remains of the old one got the replacement hammered on and then decided to fit cruise module as I had the wheel off so that's all done and back together, found a hole in the front of the sill so got some welding to do but need to practice first. Changed the pedal switches for the cruise ones and now waiting to see which wheel Gem plumps for and will then have a cruise control kit for sale (y)
