What Have You Done to Your Cougar Today?

Sorry Matt I've just seen this post.

That's useful to know, is it the one going directly in to the box (phwoar) or is it the plastic connector further up the cable?

First thing I did was remove stickers but I kept the cougar head on the petrol cap, club stickers in the Windows, and the v6 under the side repeaters. The new boot emblem matches those ones you put on the wheel centres.

Just need to order one of those cougar head brake light masks from the godfather when he's back from holiday

I'm glad you kept the wing ones - my own custom design!

It's the plastic connector (possibly green) thats the problem, but you've probably got more patience to fix it than me!

Sound, cheers.
Funnily enough I had a look under the airbox yesterday after reading the switch was under there. I'll soak it in servisol 10 electrical cleaner and clean it up. Failing that a new switch should sort it.

Shame to see you go Rod :(
I may stop subscribing but I think I'll still be poking my head in from time to time :)
I drove it yesterday maybe for the last time before I take off the ST200 airbox. She must know something is up, I got some funny noise I never heard before, sounded like a seagull under the bonnet

We've lost him to that lovely Jag. Mind you if anyone wants a decent Cougar I imagine that would be one to buy.
Thanks, it's not a minter but no major issues I don't think. Same can be said for the Jag, I now have some rust round the back end  that will need attention soon (purely cosmetic thankfully) but I will take the opportunity to jack it up and take the plastic sill caps off to get real good look under. That will cost a lot more than fixing rust on a Cougar unfortunately.

Put the new parts in the boot. If anyone wants to have a go at it this weekend then feel free, but I certainly won't mind if you don't - it's good just to relax.

On Monday evening I re hashed how the car was supported on the ramps to enable the removal of the front drivers side wheel. Axle stands in place and wheel removed to give access to the lower front wheel arch liner. Whip that off and exposed the crank shaft pulley. Socket on the pulley bolt, the engine turns over. put her in gear. the hub that is hanging in free space spins courtesy of the differential. Need to jam that wheel.
This evening Thursday, jam the trolley jack handle between the wheel studs, and crank the engine over on the crank pulley bolt until the handle jams against the ramp. I put pretty much everything I've got into the ratchet handle but my puny arms aren't good enough to crack the nut. I'm not sure its got a lh tread. Same pressure in opposite direction. Nope still not budging. Reverse the pressure again on the ratchet back to conventional rh thread. Joy that's done the trick, bolt slides out easily. Next job is to take the pressure of the belt tensioner and pop the belt off. Job done. Squirt some WD onto the end of the shaft to let it soak in until the next visit. Now waiting on the delivery of the oil seal and the pulley puller, both from Euro car parts. Just need to drop the oil before that.
