What Have You Done to Your Cougar Today?

After getting some good news today about a pay off I am due I decided to bite the bullet and treat the old girl to a new set of alloys and boots, seems strange paying more for them than I did for the car !

That's the HVAC one, mate. If you haven't been using heating/cooling (or at least, not adjusting it) then you wouldn't have noticed a thing.

:edit: Wait, no it's not. The HVAC one is the grey one all the way to the right of your pic. The white one is for the EGR system (the green one is too). Just block it off.

The only ones you need to worry about are the red ones (fuel pressure regulator).

No wonder it hasnt made a difference to the running then ive already capped off the green one which I knew was the EGR ..didnt realise that one was part of the EGR system also I thought each colour did something different

I'm having to reach a bit here since it was a few years ago, but I found the vac system diagrams and the white one just said it was related to the EGR without really showing were it goes. So to be fair, I'm not exactly sure what it does, but since you've deleted your EGR I'm going to assume you're okay.

Wouldnt expect ford to do something logical like colour coding anyway :)

Least I know I dont have to worry I may have caused some unknown damage somewhere running her without it connected

Found it! It is 9E498, Emission Vacuum Control Main. It connects to the underside of an actuator on the LIM/fuel-rail. Totally redundant in a car with EGR delete, though should obviously be capped at the vac cluster if disconnected.

No problemo. Have fun!

I'll be doing my front ARB droplinks tomorrow, assuming the rain holds off. Fairly sure I shouldn't be able to reach through my wheels, grab the links and wiggle them. :cautious:

:Edit: Oh, and I've also lost one of the centres on my gear selector (at the gearbox end). It still shifts - there's nowhere for the cable/connector to go - but it's sloppy. Like an inch of movement in the shifter itself and I've missed a couple of cross-box shifts recently. I'm going to be looking for something to fix that. I'll probably fabricate one from a sheet of rubber.

Got my centre console out, and fitted my replacement handbrake gaiter. The old one broke off the plastic welds, so Araldite was needed to glue the replacement in.
But all done and back in within an hour or so (y)
