What Have You Done to Your Cougar Today?

Took delivery of my spoiler, which I'll get in to work somepoint in the next week for a paint job, and my bargain car mats. My pal has also just given the car its first wash since we collected it, apparently there's not a single panel unscathed!

Looking forward to picking it up tomorrow, it'll be the furthest I've driven her since October.

Washed and glazed in preparation for the next few days - I ain't driving a dirty car in the sunshine and she'll look gorgeous next to her more modern friends at work tomorrow.

Pretty certain this is her last year though.

Wow Steve... Making me crave and have the urge to clean mine when its back Brought some new cutting compound and wax...

And Chris, have I missed something? Last year for???

You putting the Cougar into retirement?

Yeah.

Paul (Shirtyzeus) dealt with her sills and front chassis legs and gave her a few years more than she would've had. But I now have a hole in the rear chassis rail - the part that goes past the fuel tank - so she's not going to survive an MOT and it's just too much work to ask anyone to do.

Tony did it, but he has the skills and equipment and another car.

I can't afford to be without my daily, and I'm not paying good money to fix a car with a bad chassis as well as poor bodywork, so I'll just kill her off and part her out in August. Maybe get myself a good Melina, maybe do something else. I dunno. Going to make the best of it in the meantime.

Wow, Dam.... I never realised! I thought she was coming on really well!
This is the thing thats scary, you can plow thousands into these with the best intentions but ultimately, unless you have a shed load of time and skill their fate is near enough sealed...

I need to get under mine properly and give it a good going over, stories like this make you panic!

Sorry to hear that Chris.

Everything is fixable, but like you say it all comes down to money , time and having the skill. Its even worse when its your daily and you need her on Monday.

Could always have another Daily and keep her as a project to learn to weld on(if your that way incliened!)

Damn Chris that's not good.......I remember seeing Phoenix with a big hole there and I was shocked at how bad it was there.
enjoy the summer with her mate :)

That would be a shame if you did chris especially with all the other work you've done.

Gave mine an engine service at the weekend but forgot to do the PS fluid, so did that tonight, now got a quiet PS pump again.
Oh and watch this space for a bit of good news at the end of the month (y)

Used it for work a few days this week to get things moving again, if you see a Goblin round Leicester/Market Bosworth over the next few days, don't panic, lol I'll be dugging up n down canals on a friends barge :)

Sometimes its a hard choice. Might be time to grab a decent one while there's still some out there.

Ugh. No other Cougar will ever be Tiger. Honeslty I couldn't face doing all the things I did for her again. Think I might be on the way out because another £600 car will just break by heart.

Get it fixed............if i can help with a loan vehicle, we'll sort summat

I get you, but the new MOT regs are going to kill Tiger anyway it seems, and I can't justify spending hundreds of pounds getting welding done if that's the case.

I wish for the best, but...

Well you've got our support whatever you decide. You've got the people here to do it at minimal cost, and you're welcome to use one of my fleet while the work is done.

Aside from the welding what else would Tiger fail the new MOT Regs on, ok you have to do away with HID's for MOT but thats not a huge costly change to make, other than that a well maintained engine and running gear wont fail the new regulations, there are also plenty of mobile mechanics out there that can do the elding for you cheaply, just do the prep work yourself and take someone up on the loan of a vehicle whilst Tiger gets made whole again (pun intended) (y)
