The opposite Rick. White primer lightened it too much, hence the second respray with grey. This silver frost can be a pig to match. Ive also found the basecoat spraying pressure makes a big difference ie: higher pressure will lay it on very silver so i spray at about 25-30 psi with the HVLP gun which brings it down to more of a grey/silver, also spray from a greater distance than usual, about 18". This is a closer match for DG.

I didn't realize it went back as far as our cars but here's a tidbit of knowledge. Especially for those trying to paint parts.

Cars now a days are painted with almost translucent colors. Meaning if you spray a piece of glass you can see through it. Anyway, there are primer surfaces known as G shades. I believe there are 7 of them what they are is basically white to black with progressively darker shades of grey between them. If you use G1 for example on one piece and then spray color then use the same color over G5 for example the G5 is darker. It would appear thats what happened here.

As for the spraying and pressures. Welcome to metallics. The first 2 or 3 coats arent an issue they should be fine spraying them normal, but you have to do a control coat on the last pass. Basically like Alan did. Pressure different and gun distance increased but there's a little more to it then that. If you want a little better explanation of it google Control Coat.

Likewise, working where seagulls spend the breeding season, many co-workers' cars go home covered in white streaks so I'll see what effect having Amourall Shield over Amazon's paintwork has.

...aand another one. I needed to get that sand rinsed off from that mini dust storm the other day, intending to wax polish etc but it just got too hot so i stopped at leathering untill things cool down a tad. The rear bumper is coming off tomorrow so ill probably hold off until that jobs done.

You got it too, eh? I spent way too many hours yesterday making sure I didn't add to scratches and swirls to any of the three cars I washed. Praise be for snow-foam. :whistle:

Her current parking spot is under a tree and sometimes pigeons sit up there and crap over it, plus the dropped debris from the tree sticks and turns to mush when it gets wet . . this is because my daughter got a car so I gave her my old spot :(
 
Took Claus the supercar in for MOT this morning.

It's a PASS!!!!! :) very happy, well done Claus. :love:
 
Not the Cougar as such but sent my Astra in for test, see what happens...

To celebrate his mot pass, the stainless twin pipes are finally on.
I was a bit apprehensive how loud these would be, but it sounds just right imo, nice burble when accelerating, at 60+ it's pretty much quiet as standard.
