Turns out the same repeaters fit my jag but I can't get them from the same source as I put in my cougar a few years ago - shame as they were quite good quality.

Thank you. The ones I took out were only in a year so not impressed by those. The new ones are from AutoArt Styling in Warwick. First impressions are good and I roughly paid about £12. Last years were probably half that cost.
 
The other thing I did today was to evaluate my 'Brake Fluid Tester Pen'. It takes AAA batteries, seems well made with a solid feel, an end switch and a cover cap for the electrodes / to stop fluid dripping I guess.

Once switched on the 0% light is always on to indicate the battery is ok / no moisture is detected.

Experimenting with a damp washing up cloth, I could get all or none of the lights to come on.

Now for the real thing. My unadulterated brake fluid reservoir, which looks surprisingly good considering. It did flicker up to 2% but mainly only 1%. Although I have changed a lot of fluid when working on brakes earlier this year, which probably helps.

As a 'control' I decided to check against some fluid out of a bottle. Interestingly also 1% and the bottle was only 1/4 full, so maybe a new, fresh bottle would have given better results.

At as low as £2.28 from China via eBay, it seems like a good tool to have in the toolbox. I cannot personally claim to be able to tell bad fluid by sight, smell or even taste, so this seems like the next best thing - recommended...
 
I replaced all four brake discs and pads a couple of weeks ago and took her for her MoT this morning - passed with no advisories and the tester commented on what fabulous condition she was in!
When I bought her about 18 months ago she was considered expensive at £1300 but the body is in amazing condition and the engine is lovely and had only done 57K (70K now) so I reckon it's still really cheap motoring. Last fully comp insurance was £118 too so it seems like running a classic car at very low cost to me...

Gone through mine today with it being sat for a month ready for the new owner tomoro and a marathon trip home, started first turn of the key after a decent lay up. Writing this from the garage expecting a decent bill for Mondeo that replaced it wondering why the hell I sold it...
 
I've had an alright day, highlight being meeting Steven to sign the V5 for the breaker and lowlight was driving to Ikea to do it!

I've started removing some of the easier elements which now reside in a variety of boxes, the boot of the car etc, and generally had a poke around. I have swapped the headunit over into mine and sprayed copious amounts of Plusgas onto various nuts and bolts in anticipation of their impending appointment with a socket. I've decided I'm going to swap some panels over too, I always hoped the wings were in better nick (they are) but so are both bumpers and possibly the bonnet.

Underneath is a sorry state, I think partly as a result of being stood for a year plus. I whipped the undertray off (hoping to have a look at the rad support bar) and it was worse than mine. Rust abounds.

In other news I ended my day with a quick 20 mile run about in mine to allow the ECU to do its thing after a battery removal. Running sweet as a nut, sounds amazing and really, really, put a smile on my face. Hoping it bodes well for tomorrow as it's MOT day! o_O

  • Offside Rear Shock absorbers light misting of oil or has limited damping effect (5.3.2 (b))
I'll post up later on about help with the handbrake and see what I can do with the rust issue.
