Whats the difference between me and you? C1 or C2

It's worth also mentioning that the smaller 2495cc V6 fitted to C2s and late build C1s has exactly the same bhp and torque figures as the 2544cc V6 (according to Ford's literature - brochures & owners guides).

So the 2495cc V6 is more efficient......? :D

I'll get me coat.......

Yes all the relevent data on the Zetec & V6* engines regarding performance and MPG etc. from the C2 Owners Manual.

*2495cc engine*

It was only so people new the factory figures for the Max Revs, Idle speed, Spark-plugs & Gap, Oil filter and Oil fill levels etc.

There may have been some differences to the C1 2544cc V6 and the Zetec [fitted to C1's] (although I doubt it with the Zetec)....oh its actualy a Zetec-E engine not a Zetec! (slight differences between the two)
I've finally got the manual out of my car to fill this info in again ;)

Interesting to see the ST200 is slower through the gears no good for a 0 - 60 run

Nice one Ginja, feel free to have the rest of the weekend off now ;)
In some ways I agree with people on preferring the C1 but I do love how modern the C2 looks and the dash/hvac/steering wheel/gearknob looks very clean and smart, if you squint slightly on a C2 interior and ignore the seats you could almost imagine its an interior from something that costs 50k more...
Great post though this is very useful..

i've got one of each and i'd like to add a couple of points that might be of interest to prospective buyers. for cars made after 2001 the tax is £245 as opposed to £210 something to do with emissions i believe. c2 front exhaust pipe has a 3 bolt flange and a sensor fitted so not compat. also we took a lpg system from a c1 to fit on a c2 to find coil, leads, sensors, injectors etc were not compat. my point being with 11,000 c1 440 c2's sourcing spare parts could become scarce and a bit of a minefield. as for the cosmetics the c2 facelift was purely keeping up with market trends so why there should be c2 'haters' is beyond me . if c1 grills are so great why do so many of them get modded, same goes for dials. at the end of the day its only down to personal preferences and its nice to able to have a choice. don't know whether this will help or confuse but its just my opinion thanx.

The tax rules changed for cars first registered on or after March 1st 2001. Cars registered from that point forth are taxed according to CO2 emissions, the amount the V6 emits currently attracts tax of £245 per year. Any car first registered before this date is taxed according to it's engine capacity, the V6 falling into the £210 bracket. I'm unsure of the figures for the Zetec, but Parkers will tell you.

EDIT: Just checked and the Zetec costs exactly the same.

Yes unfortunately this caught one member out who sold his nice example of a C2 because he thought he was going to get a tax rise (someone had quoted £400 a year) but instead it never happened, its only, what £35 rise (£40 if you go on last years price) so check your log-book before you start worrying (mine for instance was registered in Jan 2001)

This confused me too. I went for a C1 V6, purposely went for a pre March 2001 model thinking I'd save £200+ per year in road tax - I was wrong.

I assumed because the C02 emissions were 236g/km (tax band L) that the annual cost was £425. However, any car that is over 225g/km, but registered before 2006 is classifed as vehicle tax band K (currently £245 per annum). So really V6s registered after March 1st 2001 will only cost an additional £40 per year to tax.

Co2 as I stated in the previous thread (that took me ages to write ;)) is 228g/km (240g/km for auto) and the Tax for pre March 2001 cars is (or was) £205 (oh and did I mention there is no Co2 reading on my logbook)

Anyway this isn't realy a difference between the C1 and C2 as a few owners cars are C1's registered after 03/2001 so they have to pay £245 too.

Dragging up old threads again Matt.o_O
The V6 MTX is 236g/km not 228 (not sure about the auto) and you'll only have the Co2 figure on your V5C if the car is registered on or after March 2001.

The figures were from the manual mate printed by Ford (but we know how reliable that is)
Anyway this was supposed to be a serious thread  i'll get someone to delete your spam

C1 & C2 parcel shelves are different too
C1 is single skinned and has small winglets
C2 is doubel skinned and no winglets
Late build C1's also have the later design shelf.
Rubber bushes/bumpers between the tailgate and shelf are also a different arrangement. (early design - rubbers are on the shelf/late design - rubbers fitted to tailgate).
