Wheels

My car has the bog-standard 16" alloys from the factory and while I find them attractive enough, they are a little small.
Can anyone recommend a wheel/tyre combo that fills out the arches? I know wheels and tyres aren't cheap but I'm going used rather than new for the wheels, then buy new tyres. I think 18" should give the car a tougher look???

Any suggestions and or photos will be much appreciated.

I had these on my car for a while, they can be picked up cheaply enough and are 17".
You need to use 215/45/17 tyres though, the Focus used 205s which are too small for the Cougar really. You also need to the correct 19mm Focus nuts, which means carrying a 19/21mm wheelbrace and four spare standard nuts in case you need to put the spare on.

They look perfect. Did you use spacers or are they standard offset?

I didnt use any spacers, the offset seemed fine. I didn't have any issues. The correct tyre size seems to be reasonably priced too.

By the time I had sold the car, I was using these wheels, which are freely available on Ebay under several brand names. I though they looked fantastic, but were an absolute nightmare to clean, which isn't ideal for the perennially lazy such as myself.

Another good option is Mk1 Focus RS wheels, but they're much more rare and not very cheap!

I have some 17s for sale in my breaking thread here

Thread 'V650 Ebony V6 Breaking' https://www.ukcougar.club/threads/v650-ebony-v6-breaking.33976/

They could do with a restore though to be honest but then I'm not after much for them :)

The technical information for the wheel is below so anything with that should fit

Center Bore: 63.4 mm

PCD: 4x108 (4x4.25)

Wheel Fasteners: Lug nuts

There are a selection of different wheels as fitted to various Cougars here:

Here's one of my favorite wheels. They don't make this exact one anymore but konig has a few others that are close. These are 17's

I have 19s on it now but its sitting on axlestands with the wheels off the ground so you cant tell how they sit in the arches.

Fronts just push out and the mondeo ones push in and the rear ones need a tiny bit shaving off the rear stubs and then I used a ford windstar rear hub but I think one of the vans in the UK use the same hub. I'll rack my brains and let you know if I remember the van.
