Coug with a Subaru spoiler

Tbh Si when you think of all the "ironing boards" around these days it's not that bad.
I like this view (y)

Go for it mate, be different.

Actually after my last post and now seeing this pic, I kinda have to agree with Nick. From that angle, it actually looks alright. However, still think it would proberly come together alot more if you had side skirts and bodykit. Anyway, will reserve all judgement until you have finished it and see it in the flesh.

Like it!!

Wouldn't worry about it coming off - don't think Cougars are capable of that sort of speed.......:bomb::bomb:

Couple of big washers should sort the mounting points out. Don't forget to seal around the edges of the spoiler where it sits on the boot as well as around the holes. Bond it with tiger seal if you don't wanna take it off, or I've found the sealing strips that go around cooker hobs work well.

bootlid skin is only a couple of mill thick so with drag from the wind at motorway speeds could still work as a tin opener if not anchored properly (y)

I find it hard to believe you of all people have said that .... that monstrosity on your boot lid should rip the back end of your car off when you reach Mach 2.

Si i think you will regret it if you fit that mate!!!!! spoilers are designed for a car and when you fit a spoiler from another car it spoils the lines just my opinion mate, ford scoobie n all that lol

You'd get a much better idea of how it will look, if you can take the studs out, or are they bonded in.
:

I'm still quite liking it Si but, as Al says, you won't get the faintest idea as to what it is going to look like until you can get those feet flat on the boot - a couple of mils here and there can make a HUGE difference to the looks.

ATM you have got it level using the tin of tuna but it clearly won't be level when you fit it - the front of the feet are well higher than the back so when fiitted it will slope forwards quite a lot giving completely different lines - unless, of course, you were going to start chopping bits of the legs off - which might start getting a bit messy.

So - as Al says - if at all possible get those bolts out - or if not - at least get the feet as parallel to the boot skin as possible - THEN see if you like it (y)

seen the same spoiler on a subaru today and from eye level it looked like a shelf i used have over a radiator in the house

put 2 nuts on it mate wind the second down to the first then undo the first that should unscrew the bolt (y)

Yeh, but Al has said they could be bonded in?? I would poke a small torch or light into one of the inspection holes and see how the bolts are fixed to the wing before deciding to screw around (pardon the pun! lol)

These are normally double ended threaded studs, rather than bolts. Some i've seen are simply tightened in and will unscrew easily, but some are also bonded or thread locked. If you can get your finger in the hole and have a feel around:angel: , try to identify stud or bolt (y)

i am going to fit it just to spite him!

To be fair, Procomm has a lot of detractors about his spoiler (incl me), but all the matters is that he likes it.

I like this spoiler. If its going to need to much fettling, then it will go on ebay.

I am going to try and get it flatter to the body (maybe today) and go from there, as quite rightly pointed out that could make a huge difference to the over all look.
