I did have some stainless lines but HEL set me the wrong ones, end fittings where wrong :madashell:

Two brand new Avons on the front as well now.
 
Very nice Hip. Looking good. I upgraded my front discs last year to Brembo and used Mintex brake pads, I've yet to get the rear end done. I too changed the brake lines to Goodrich chrome braided lines. There are two sets, one set for the front and one set for the rears. The front and back are completely different fittings, as I found out as my garage tried fitting the rear lines to the front and told me I had bought the wrong ones!! I drove to a Goodrich outlet in Exeter (one of their main offices) and they explained the garage didn't know what they were doing. Anyway, soon sorted and all was well. As I said, I'm yet to get my rear ones changed over which I'll be doing shortly. Anyway, liking your set up - looks great looking through the alloy and bet she stops alot quicker too!! lol
 
Looks good Si, just one thing, you've put the discs on the wrong wheels, so the grooves are facing the wrong way, though the stickers state otherwise. Correctly fitted, the grooves force the gases outwards as the wheels rotate, your's force the gases inwards.(will work great in reverse though :tongue: )

Steve, are you sure matey? as all the stuff I have looked at says that Hip has fitted correctly - see following pic:

But is that the left, or right wheel?

Ferrari seem to agree that they should be on the other way round.;)

I had a reply from HEL, apparently the fittings are "unisex" so to speak. I'll try again next weekend, a line change is easy enough and the brake fluid needs changing anyway!

Wild, I've done all the work myself, so I've got no garage to blame :P I did check front and rear on the length as they're massively different and they it was the right way round.

Steve, it's got a sticker. Must be right. :P
This is a fairly large debate on FEOC as well, some people in either camp. I've just gone with the sticker.

I had the same issue with mine. The seller told me it doesn't matter as it's only cosmetic :wacko: but after some discussion with others, we agreed the grooves act as vents to take the heat/gas away from the centre where heat would obviously build up more than if vented away to the outer edges of the disks.

Could argue the grooves pull cold air in my way round. The discs are made in Nottingham.

Steve, if your that bothered, some to Nottingham and swap them round. I'm not gonna :P

Rear however is still up on axle stands. Both rear shocks are ******, and the motorfactors is closed.

Oh, and I ruined a pair of jeans and nearly went to the bone on my index finger. Joy
 
What a nightmare. Got to the fourth and final corner to be lowered. The other passenger side all slotted back together nicely so couldn't foresee any problems with the drivers side.

I was wrong.

Initial problem was the main pinch bolt holding the hub and shock together. Just about every trick know to man was tried. Lengthy pry bars, different sockets, blow torch, hammer. The head was one yank off being rounded so Dad (Baldeagle) got the angle grinder out whilst I hacksawed the shock mounting bracket off. With the bolt head removed, the pressure was released off the hub and the shock was free.

Next up where the two bolts holding the shock in place. These had both corroded away as well. Final solution was angle grinding a socket down (anyone else noticed that sockets all appear to have a chamfered edge to the teeth that helps rounding?) so that it had maximum grip and a jacking handle to crack them off.

I then proceeded to be a complete and utter dick. I reassembled the shock and missed out the top mounting plate and the piston protection cover. Whilst this wouldn't normally by an issue, because the top plate was missing, I over tightened the top mounting nut shearing off the thread.

No more shock absorber, no more £50 :(

So, car is now SORN. Can't afford to repair AND tax the car, and there's no point paying for a months tax and not be able to drive it! The pinch bolt is STILL in the hub, and even cut in half, the section that isn't threaded won't come out. We suspect that the bolt has been bent in 10 years of use and there's no way it's going to come out. Looking like I'll be needing a new rear hub as well!

Rise height is lovely and flat, 1.5 fingers all the way around. Ride is far less dippy especially under braking. Trade off is that it's a fair bit harsher as well, but I can deal with that.

I'll get some better pics this weekend.
 
Looking good Si, I did Rachel's fronts yesterday, one of the nuts picked up on the thread coming off the shock, so had to be cut off, luckily I had a spare shock for Cat 3. Doing the rears tomorrow.

Probably worth renewing the 10mm top mount bolts mate, I'll try to find the FINIS code. They're special order only from Ford.
