Identification plate on strut housing

If the first owner emigrated from Australia to here they could well have had a container or two to ship their possessions over here.
It could have been cost effective to import the car rather than sell and replace especially if it was nearly new.

Maybe the owner emigrated and wanted to bring their nearly new car with them. They must have also had the cash to do it as well ofcourse.

Looks like FA and me were thinking the same - it's the only explanation I can think of about how it got over here.

It is a respray but was amazon green to start with.

If the plate says Cougar 1 and it's original colour was Amazon Green there's a contradiction there as Amazon was C2 only. C1's got DTG. What is it? A C1 or C2? Have you done an HPI check yet? The only real place you're gonna get answers is from Ford and the DVLA. Have you checked the reg out for originating dealer?

Good point, ford UK ran a hpi check on it but didn't say much just about a private number plate on it before and removed and that it came up as Ford Unknown which suggested an import, they did say to call back Monday when they have the admin staff in.

....as all the RHD conversions were done there.
Had this conversation before. Converting from LHD to RHD would have been an unnecessary cost for Ford.
I'm certain all the RHD Cougars were built in Flat Rock that way.
There are plenty of RHD territories - Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, Cyprus, Malta, Japan, several southern African countries and most commonweath countries (e.g India, Jamaica etc).

You might want to double check "commonwealth" countries! As for the RHD, I understood that the cars were converted in the EU. Wouldn't be the first thing a manufacturer has wasted money on. Also I'd still, if I was really interested, get a private HPI check done. A Ford dealer will only fully HPI a car that's on their books as all searches are recorded and charged for. What they've probably done is a base check which is free and can be done via data on their internal systems.

The Ford Unknown thing is rubbish and doesn't mean a thing. There are loads of cars out there the same. Not every single car had its full data inputted, trust me! None of this actually confirms this car wasn't registered new here.

Still didn't say what it was Sam, a 1 or a 2?

A USA owner Stacey iirc came over here to work and had her car containers over for around $1100 I think as the car was only a year or two old made sense I would guess a similar situation here?.

curious if the X**EUR were pre-allocated by the DVLA for personal imports?
would that sound reasonable given that the red X**EUR cars could also fall under this suggestion?

The red ones are UK registered AFAIK. Les' I'm sure was registered here new and so was that other one from Luton.
