In truth Matt the people who have been discussing trying to save Fest are generally the ones who have been attending it so nothing two faced about it. Lewy simply offered to handle the organisation of it nothing more. And certainly not two faced of him, it was a kind offer from someone who is still a mod on this site despite having moved on from Cougar ownership some time ago. It's not about the cars - they simply brought us all together - it's about the people who make this club what it is (y)

Have to say this is also my view, Ok so Lewy has not made a fest yet but does that mean his offer of helping organise one is worth less than if it was someone who has attended?, I certainly don't think so IMO Lewy is trying to help out the club not just the few of us who went to fest.

You are completely entitled to your opinion Matt I just you worded it very badly.

Your right mate, you have done a great job these past few years and we've just taken it for granted, you do it all in your spare time and without payment (i'll stop bigging you up in a minute ;)) but I can imagine how you must have felt when lots of people just didn't have the same passion about it all in the end. Yes it started to bring the cars owners together to get chatting about he cougar and have a good time (like this forum) but after a while it became so much more than that, it became more of a family gathering, the extended cougar-owners/ex-owners family, slighly disfunctional sometimes like the simpsons or family guy but still a family.

Yes ok my comment was a bit below the belt and i'm sorry it wasn't supposed to be, I do have a problem of being brutaly honest and less tactfull sometimes, the point being was I thought it was little too late with the offer....and yeah you don't need a Cougar to come to fest.....and as Mark showed you don't have to live South of Cheshire either ;)

I like this club and would like to say that a lot of you guys are my mates even if I do drive an ugly car and have ginger hair, at least i'm not _ ____

Matt,

If you go back to the start you will see it was an offer to assist this failing event, as you rightly point out i havent been to a fest, does this make me a bad person and somebody who should refrain from offering....im sure thats not in the rules as a pre requisite for offering my help.:music:

I found your post very offensive from somebody who is just trying to lend a hand with a new approach.

The plan - well its simple so i,ll not go over it again but just to say that spreading payments these days for people rather than trying to find hard earned money near the time of fest is happening more often than not, if you werent aware then just so you are 55% of companie now offer direct debit since 2010, quite remarkable really but the best option for most of us these days.

You are entitled to your opinion and as such so is everybody else hence those that found the post unwarranted. If you think outside the box you may have seen it differently.

Thats all im going to say on the matter, i would however recommend that asking members to spread payments for events then it may, may grow the attendance list not only at a fest but other events too.

i joined just a week before fest and was gutted that i was unable to attend, but really hope that there is something to replace it next year as the pics just say it all.....awsome! looks like you have done a cracking job in the past jj!

How about this as a proposal............

Let us know what our required target is for a marquee, fridge bbq etc, if we can reach the target by a certain date, then we shall call it cougarfest 2012.

I like this club and would like to say that a lot of you guys are my mates even if I do drive an ugly car and have ginger hair, at least i'm not a person who sits in his car at fest and watches naked ladies online to keep his hands warm

FPMSL!!

That's kind of how it is with the 30 car thing Rich. Problem with opening it to targets is to keep it fair everyone would need to chip in the same amount, hence 30 car rule.

But if there were a minimum of £30.....................................

Someone might be in the money one month and throw a few extra quid in the pot.(y)

Let's just let it lie for a bit guys.

This year was a blast let's leave it there for now.

If the mods were to consider a payment scheme such as monthly contributions towards Cougarfest costs, this money could be deposited in a high yield account ( difficult at the moment due to the credit crunch, but, there are accounts available out there ) where it may possibly earn a bit of interest. Anyone who is feeling affluent and wishes to pay the full amount right away would be welcomed to do so earning a bit more interest for the club. Members could pay basically what they wanted to pay, to cover the cosy of Fest and even their spending money. This account could be a once a year withdrawal account requiring two signatories for withdrawal and one for deposit. I used to run the Golf Section when I worked for Hewlett Packard and we utilised this type of savings scheme for our annual golf outing to a championship course for our 72 hole, three day event. Back in the good old days when interest rates were reasonable, we did manage to make quite a few quid towards prises etc. Worth a thought.
