Looking Back

That's a shame mate, i must have been off this site when all this stuff that happened wi you towing that guys car, pretty poor him doing that, what happened to him is he bannished from this club now and did he stay local to you in aberdeen

Yeah I was mate. He was always thrashing the nuts off his car and he was always over at mine at weekends doing stuff with them. He was always very willing to help in return though I'll give him that, and he had a pretty good sense of humour...

Anyway, he stripped a few teeth off his differential doing one too many wheel spins, and he had credit card companies threatening to send the bailiffs round because he was in up to his neck after starting a car modifying business which failed. He was in a fix so when he asked me to tow his car to his father-in-law's (who had a garage with a pit) about 30 miles away and help him change the gearbox for a second hand one I agreed.

On the way, some nobber in an Impreza (how did you guess?) goofed on a large dual carriageway roundabout and hit this boy's car.

I ended up getting the blame for it and lost 2yrs NCB for the Impreza's damages and have to pay the Cougar's damages out of my own pocket because comprehensive policies don't cover you for damages to anything you're towing. He maintained for a while that he wouldn't sign the papers to let his insurance company sue me, but his insurer apparently has authorisation to start legal proceedings. Obviously I wouldn't win in court because my own insurance company already accepted liability.

So that's it

Maybe Gill would get on better with Cougar 2 seats, although obviously it would need cosmetic surgery outside. Maybe the chrome headlights painted black inside and that Cougar SE bumper Twisted Vision made... I've seen 8 Cougars since yesterday morning, 2 with nice aftermarket alloys. Someone's taunting me

great write up, as a reasonable new member always looking for another photo option of my car flcking through yours and just generally reading,

Did'nt think that it would end like that.

sorry to hear of your bad luck.

It's been an experience Tim, and I've learned a few things. Life goes on. It's sad to let the car go but next year I might get that red Jaguar XKR I loved when I saw it road tested next to a Porsche 911 and Maserati 3200GT in Top Gear Magazine 12 years ago when they first came out - the same magazine which featured a 3 car convoy in 1998 which convinced me I wanted a Cougar 8)

It has been fun :)

I've only got another ?ú300 to find and this nasty insurance stuff will all be over :D

ItÔÇÖs a sad sorry Jamie, every time I read something about it make me angry!

If it makes any difference, you have certainly contributed to making my cougar ownership enjoyable, thanks you for all your helpful advice and IÔÇÖm sure your contributions to the club will still be noted years to come.

Good luck with new cars, on to bigger and beter things!

Yes Jamie you know it makes sense

You know my feelings on the subject mate, after all the help you've given everyone you should have that pink cat parked outside your house. But what can we do, hopefully one day you will, maybe even with the best bumper on it

somehow I also missed all this  , it is a bad story and real let down for the club, like so many others here have always been grateful for the help and advise you have given jamie you will be missed if you do leave the club

I'm sorry to see you go mate....who else will pick up on my spelling

I too wondered what the Cat would look like in RED....

Cougar 2 seats are comfortable mate.

I could do with your "Expert" guidance when my new suspension arrives, i'm sure we will be using your how-to to get the job done.

Ps. nice choice Jag XKR 8)

Will be sad to see you leaving the club mate. Was a great laugh meeting you, and thank you for all the help you have given me these last few years.

Make sure you pop in every now and again!

Rod

Quite a story of love and hate! Jamie - what can I say other than I do understand that you have to move on now. So much has happened and none of it can be undone.

You will always be someone special to me - I had to ring you at an ungodly hour in the morning when my cat broke on the way down to a funeral in Cornwall. You were so patient with me on the phone trying to sort it out. You probably missed your breakfast as a result of my intrusion. Anyway - Green Flag sorted the problem and I made it to the funeral after a VERY rapid drive down to near Perranporth.

You are special to many of us in different ways.

I wish you well in your next car - You've always loved Jags - goferitmate!!!! :D :D :D :D

Best wishes to Gill too and I do hope we hear from you on this site from time to time. You are a great loss.

just caught this thread and gotta say that i'm saddened that u're leaving the fold buddy.... i've been away lately and seem to have missed the story of ur insurance woes.. was there a thread somewhere??

u're a true fountain of knowledge when it comes to the cat (tho u need to brush up on ur aerodynamics and spoiler knowledge IIRC  http://ukcougarforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=3592&highlight=aerodynamics go on.. u know u want to read it again!!!) but it's good that u'll still be hanging around to finish off the damned Roush Kit group buy thread.. after all it was ur fault for starting it!!! lol

seriously.. best of luck in whatever lies ahead!!

What a F****N Pen15 :!:

I think you all know who I'm talkin about  Imagine even considering doin that to a m8 :!: that is completely unacceptable

Gutted for you mate. Need to catch up for a few beers soon.

Stu

i think it was his insurance that made the claim, but yes it was a really sad thing to happen, i think he's just about over the disaster now after selling his own cat and better things are coming his way i hope now, i think Jamie will pop in & say hi from time to time!

agree a great loss of knowledge on tap for the club though, he's a marvelous guy.

yer your right, didn't think of that, when i was typing, engage brain eh!!!
made me think twice before towing anyway? i think made quite a few members check their insurance they have to see if towing another vehicle is on documents - so if you have a solid bar to the other vehicle is that classed along same lines as a trailor ?

nasty situation, i think Jamie has learned a lesson and moved on.

good luck Jamie, he knows he's had my support....
