Parked up for the last time

Yeah worst part is paintwork bro and I did is fine it's the original Bodyshop failing to prep properly round smoothed door handles etc that are rusting and bubbling boot lid did the same real shame will genuinely be sad to see it go even if it was a rough ride still the quickest zetec and best handling I've been in.

Even Mark (charliecd001) said he hasn't been in a quicker zetec.JJ

I'm sure Alex would disagree ;)

I'm really gutted for you Jason. There must be a scrap merchant able to pick up a bare shell so you can strip the goodies off? It will be a shame to let the Eibach suspension and Roush ARB go for scrap.
Or what about just mothballing the car until your employment situation changes? Then when the time is right, either fix up or transfer parts onto the different cat.
I hope you're taking the kit off before it's wheeled away.

:cry::cry::cry:

So do i, If you are seriously thinking of getting rid JJ, but i would have bloody good strip down before hand to keep all that's worth keeping, I may even be interested in the kit if it's the right price.. and my situation changes very soon.. :)

Sad to hear Jas but sometimes after many years of following your heart you have to let your head take over

I`m sure you have made the right decision for you but as you said, you have to stay around, where else would we all go?

Aye it's a shame to put the old girl out to pasture.....one of the club's most distinctive cats. I can understand where you're coming from though - they will all reach the point where all but the most diehard enthusiasts will have to consider the same thing. As has been mentioned though - strip off as much as you can. Maybe a minifixswapmeet kind of thing to gut Tango?

You would only get about 100 - 140 scrap value so its got to be worth stripping,it would help out a few members and would get you a lot more money

I like that idea cos I'd struggle to get that suspension on mine by myself :p

Bad news mate, I remember your cat in the begining before you owned it (cant recall the guys name) at Ford Fair way back in 2005 (think you still had pinky then) shame to see it go but it sounds like its got to the point were its not economicaly viable to keep repairing it. Yeah there are plenty of cats out there to own instead but nowt can replace Tango!
Strip it at a mini-meet and fit the old suspension off someones cat who has your eibach set up (although if your in the line for another cat i'd keep the kit yourself as they are rare as rocking horse poop)

All good things must come to an end

I take it you don't need the interior parts then :D ??

Got to go with the others here - it's go to be worth stripping for parts. Most scrap merchants will have a hi-ab and will just come and lift the scrap metal away. Take the wheels, suspensions, lights, dash, engine, gearbox, any panels worth saving, subframe, ecu/keys, window motors etc etc

Sorry to hear this jas, but i suppose it's been on the cards for a while. As i said, it's always sad to see an old favourite go, but like all things, cars have a life, and tango has certainly lived the Rock n Roll life in your care ;)
No shortage of photo's in all guises, and the old reg aka "S600GAR" lives on .

Well have managed to sort out keeping suspension and bodykit along with front callipers to keep in my garage with the other junk and someone is taking rest of car away.

So she is definitely going soon :( have a really strong connection with it mainly down to epic times I've had at shows, that mental mini fix meet at Tony's where we put the engine and box in, Kullys where Tony Bro and me worked in driving rain/hail with winds of 50mph to change clutch and suspension what a weekend that was!. If I had the money to get body back in order and the mechanicals it would be great to see her do another few years but I know realistically it's around £800 just to sort paint due to the one off colour plus even with help from you guys sorting mechanicals it's still a good few hundred quids worth of bits.

One question I do have which potentially delays Tango going what do I do about my reg mark as I'm guessing I can't just take it off ready to go on another car? How much is it? as until I raise the funds to take it off tango she's stuck here? And what exactly do I need to do?.

JJ

It's about £5000 to put the plate on retention.

There, Tango ain't going anywhere!

But seriously, it's £105 to retain for one year but you can pay more to retain it for longer.
Details here....
http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Motoring/PersonalisedRegAndNumberPlates/DG_4022575

Don't do anything hasty as it will need to be available for a possible inspection and it will either need to be taxed or sorn'ed without any gaps. If it hasn't been taxed for 12 months you've lost the plate.

EDIT: Needs an MOT too!

£105  cripes she may be stuck rotting on the drive for a while I'm declaring her sorn first thing in morning so that means reg is ok till it is declared scrap and my name is on logbook?.

JJ

Remember, if you apply 12 months after the last valid tax disc, it's too late.
Might be worth contacting them to check on the MOT situation as their site isn't clear on that. Seems to assume that you'll have one, what if you don't?

Don't declare it scrapped until it's back on an 'S' plate and you've got the certificate for B10....

Mot is valid for a while Manos so that's not an issue.

Time to start saving I reckon!.

JJ

Or it's £80 to whack it on another car!! That last pic Gina posted makes me sad. They're both dead now then :(
